Pen tool - just double click last point to stop drawing (and leave path open) It used to be (many versions ago) that if I was drawing with the pen tool, all I had to do is double click my last point, and it would end that graphic, leaving it open, and leaving the tool ready to draw another line. Now the only way to stop seems to be to hit return (which is awkward since I am right handed), go hit another tool, or use a keystroke. All of these take more time and break my train of thought.

Apply arrowheads with eyedropper When using the eyedropper tool on a line, I would like the arrowheads from the line I am imitating to be applied to the selected line. I don't want to scroll through all the arrowhead options for every line! If I apply it once, It'd be so much easier to eyedrop that same feature on all the other lines I need it for.
This is something I would use for my job while making tech packs every day! I have arrowheads on the ends of dimensions and callouts.

Bring back "Object lasso tool". Was present in earlier AIs. Helpful for non-marque selecting. Increases efficiency

Cursor and path feedback for Scissors We have to guess if we cut a path at all and if we hit the right path.
No highlight (OK, using Smart Guides helps, but Smart Guides does nothing if you also have Snap to Grid enabled!), no cursor change. It’s 2022, right? Clouds, integrations, Stock sales directly in files... Scissors are still used with a blindfold, in a dark room, in a midnight.

Please make live paint more convenient! To fill in my drawing outlines or an object, I have to select the section of outlines or shapes first, which is dumb, because in selecting the outlines or shapes, the color fill automatically changes to the color whatever is selected (the color of the stroke or shape's outline, that I want to fill in with a different color. This is made even more frustrating when I have to use the eyedropper to select a fill color, only for my color section to immediately change, upon reselecting the shape outlines I intended to fill in.
It is also a pain…

More visual feedback for the Eyedropper The Eyedropper tool has several cursors (it’s almost impossible to find any explanations about at helpx.adobe.com), displaying different states:
- a filled pipette for when you click,
- a pipette with square below to indicate a screen sampling,
- an additional T to indicate a text below,
- a reverse filled pipette to indicate apply mode.
However, some modes are missing. When you have smart guides disabled (for any reason), you can’t tell which object the tool will pick from, what attribute or will you miss completely by a pixel. The Shift mode is not covered too. So we need…

Interpolated Anchor Move Similar to a font developing tool, many lettering illustrations involve maintaining the stress of a curve while moving anchors. So with this tool, you'd be able to move an anchor point and the curve handles adjacent to the anchor would move proportionally to make the curve look similar despite the anchor moving. This could be a global setting that is enabled in preferences.
Here's a better breakdown of how the feature could behave:

Bring back selection tool shapes and straight lasso Taking these selection tools away has slowed down my work....I REGRET updating!
I used to be able to use the box selection tool to make square and rectangle shaped edits, there was a circle and pointed selection tool AND there was a straight line lasso WHY DID YOU REMOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 voteThe tools you are describing exist in Photoshop. There were never tools like these in Illustrator, you must be confusing these two apps together.
However, I think Ai could benefit from having circular marquee and polygonal lasso, so please upvote this, if you want to see them developed.

Better implementation of Actions Do a better implementation of Actions. More like Photoshop.
Some of the menu itens are not recorded in Actions, and others even with the Insert Menu item, still won't record the custom settings of it, and everytime you play that action, it will bring default values to it and open context menu to you to reenter parameters.
This must be implemented correctly, direclty with the record and not that patch "Insert Menu Item" option that exist today.
You should only hit record, do the menu options (even the Effects ones), and it must record it with all custom config you…4 votes -
Color Picker digits round up Hi, I like Illustrator for many reasons, but I find one little thing is annoying. So often I need to prepare the design files for my printer. And because the color picker doesn't have the feature of auto rounding up the digits, the color I used always has decimals, instead of a rounded up number in CMYK mode. It is not easy for the printer to process these color data. I have to round up each color manually, which is time-consuming and I might miss some elements. So is it possible to have the color picker have an option of…

Scale Obect or group of objects base on two reference points (similar as in CAD) This is useful when you need to exactly match the scale of two objects or especially group of objects. Say you have changed the scale in one file but have received a new file from a client that is in the original scale. You want to quickly match the scale change. If you have at least one reference line that hasn't changed, you can pick two reference points on the new object(s) and then the two matching points on the scaled file. This matches the the scale exactly. This can also be used in many other ways.

Remove overlapping lines Exported CAD drawings often contain many overlapping lines.
This makes such drawings difficult and cumbersome to work with, and often makes Illustrator hang.
The possibility to select an entire group of objects and, via a tool in the Object menu, remove all lines which extend parallel to and within a certain threshold distance from another line, would be great.6 votes -
Subdivision for Ellipses / Circles For constructing objects with circles, it would be nice to have a possibility to enter the subdivision / number of Anchor Points on a circle.
All circles have 4 Anchor Points and this can be subdivided to 8/16/etc., but when we need a circle with 6 evenly spaced Anchor Points, it's quite a hazzle to get there. Why not add a subdivision field?3 votes -
Bounding Box Pivot Point control and rotation improvement It would be great to be able to change the pivot point of objects while using the bounding box.
Also if you can rotate not only if you're close to the corners but by holding anywhere outside the shape.
These features already exist in Photoshop. I find it veeeery clunky to have to move between select, scale, rotate tools for simple operations that can be consolidated together into one, freeing so many hotkeys for more useful stuff.3 votes -
Loaded eyedropper just like in InDesign Allow the eyedropper tool to pick up text formatting and load it to the eyedropper to paint the formatting over multiple instances without having to pick up the formatting again and again after each application currently.
This exists in InDesign. So this is definitely possible.

More Eyedroppers Sometimes I would like to just use the eyedropper for fill color instead of having it match everything. It would be cool if you have individual eyedropper tools for fill, stroke, font features, and one for everything.

Cut path at selected anchor points hotkey In Control panel we have three buttons for a point partial selection:
Remove selected anchor points.
Does the same as a menu command Object > Path > Remove Anchor Points, and this command can have a hotkey assigned toConnect selected end points.
Does the same as a menu command Object > Path > Join, and has a default hotkey. Why Ai uses both 'Join' and 'connect' for the same operation, and also has 'Join' tool, which does a pretty different thing — is an UX mystery.Cut path at selected anchor points.
There is NO a menu command for…

Toggle Radii in Ellipse Properties When editing Ellipse Properties in the transform palette, it's be great to be able to turn off the radiuses in the ellipse, enabling a live shape which is an arc. At the moment you are limited to filled/joined sections.
