  1. Improve ShapeBuilder by adapting the Corel’s SmartFill functionality

Whoever came up with the idea of the ShapeBuilder, they did utilize not that popular LivePaint in a great way. Make it even better!
Steal and add to Ai the Smart Fill from Corel Draw (see the GIF attached). You don’t have to create a live paint, you just click over the intersection, just like ShapeBuilder does, and you have your new shape over the original paths. Steal it and make it better — CorelDraw doesn’t understand click and drag here, and it’s less comfortable to set a color (while Ai won’t have any problem here). Like now ShapeBuilder does…

  2. (1) Multi angled+coloured fills. (2) Shadow casting. (3) Lighting options.

I posted my wishes as an April fool's joke on IG but then realised it may be a possibility after all?

  3. Numbered/Label elements in document

Could we get the ability to populate the document/artboard with labels for each element? When working with clients remotely, it might be nice to be able to have the program populate labels for each element/solid/etc within the document/artboard, that way the artist and client can refer to each item vs talking about this leaf/note/cloud/etc . Specifically if there are multiples of the same shape within the document. Easier communication and presentation. Thanks!

  4. Pen Tool and Curvature Tool

All my design products are from adobe, but, to be honest the path control is very primitive. The best path control tool in every single aspect could be found in CorelDraw. I think it is gonna help if you study the CorelDraw path control tool.

  6. Grid lines colored to their corresponding layer

As someone who uses several guidelines on a project, one thing that I have found would be extremely helpful would be if the guide lines were colored to their corresponding layer. (This could be a toggleable option)

This could be particularly helpful when there are a lot of guidelines on the artboard since there is an inverse relationship between the number of guidelines and the readability of said guidelines. The more guidelines there are, the harder it can be to keep track of which guideline(s) corresponds to which element(s).

Personally, and fortunately, I am not colorblind, however, I imagine that…

  8. Vector Networks Like Figma Has

In illustrator vector shapes can only go in one continuous path. If you wanted to draw a cube, it would take 3 shapes, perfectly aligned and 12 points, 6 of which would overlap.
In a vector network a point can have multiple branches meaning that a cube could be one shape, with only 7 points (see image).
This feature would eliminate the need for complex shape overlays to create simple compositions, like a cube.

  9. resource request on Android

different from the ipad the Android tablets do not have the most complete version of the software and we Android users want this immediately, so we pay the same amount for the software

  10. Option to apply ruler scale

One of the reasons many people still use CorelDraw for drawing is that they can set a specific drawing scale to the rulers. This is a feature that is still missing from Illustrator and would go a long way to open up the market to designers who use Illustrator as a design program, and finally get people away from Corel. The current option is to constantly draw objects at full-scale (which may be too big for Illustrators limits) or use a calculator/scale converter, which adds significant production time. Currently this option is only available through a very expensive 3rd party…

  11. Object or Group of Object Component

This feature was actually on Adobe XD, where created objects like icons can be made as components, basically users can use a component multiple times, duplicating, copy and pasting to multiple artboards, but can be edited just once and then all the component link will update automatically without updating each object individually.

  12. Make the Free Transform tool respect the pattern-transformation hotkey.

With every other transformation tool in Illustrator, you can hold down the `/~ key to affect just the pattern applied to the shape - the Rotate, Scale, and Shear tools, dragging it around with one of the Selection arrows, bumping it around with the arrow keys.

But not with the Free Transform tool. The Free Transform tool doesn't know about this switch that every other tool has. Probably because it was implemented long after the others, and nobody involved in it knew about this behavior.

Today I got to explain this to yet another a new user who wanted to…

  13. Bring back opt-enter in move dialog

Select art with selection tool, hit enter for move dialog, type in parameters and hit option-enter to duplicate. You removed this feature what feels like a decade ago. Put it back in. btw-I have used illustrator professionally since Illustrator 88.

  14. Create a way to measure a curved line

We need a way to measure the length of a line regardless of shape, but at minimum we need a way to measure a basic curved line. It would be especially helpful if we could use the measure tool or some time-saving variant to tell if a curve has the desired length. While we can do a workaround now using the Document Info panel, having to isolate lines in order to do so can get really cumbersome and tedious.

  15. Scale the graphs. SCALE THE GRAPHS. SCALE THE GRAPHS. SCALE THE GRAPHS.

WHY CAN'T WE SCALE GRAPHS. THIS IS SO BASIC. IS ADOBE BASIC? STOP BEING BASIC. SCALE THE GRAPHS.

This is a critical functionality for infographics and you've all but left it as something a child would have shown at an Adobe Max SNEAKS reveal with it's current level of development in comparison to the level the rest of the entire OS has reached.

  16. Cursor needs to change appearance while grabbing Anchor point.

Cursor needs to change appearance (or something) while grabbing Anchor Point during the work with pen tool (P) . When you think you got it you just missed it by an micro meter and the dashed square appears and you missed everything. A small but REALLY annoying problem. It happens ALL the time. Am I the only one?

  18. Value limits in bar charts

I'm trying to build a stacked bar chart with values in the millions, but the default caps at 214,000+. Other users have noticed this. It's astonishing Adobe has not fixed this as of May 2021. I mean, how difficult could it be?

  19. Image Trace results have deteriorated over the years, detail is lost and line work looks terrible!

I’m a full time illustrator and have been using Adobe Illustrator since the launch of CS - so it’s been years :) I LOVE the app, in fact it’s how I make my living as an illustrator and the app features have contributed to my style development and workflow.

Which brings me to the feedback I’d like to give regarding the Image Trace tool. My illustration style is a mixture of hand crafted, grungy texture and flat colour. I achieve this by creating pencil on paper line work, scanning then I image trace in Adobe Illustrator to vectorize. BUT, I…
