commentedOpen your photo in photoshop, go to image/mode/8 bits then save. Change it to 8 bits. Illustrator doesn't read 16 bits, so you have to convert it to 8 bits.

commentedSame problem on Illustrator 23.0.1 and Photoshop 20.0.1. This is a showstopper as iPhoneX images cannot be rendered in either of the tools. How can such an obvious bug escape the lightest of testing.

commentedI've been dealing with this for over a year. The best solve I can find is to open them in Finder, then screenshot the image. Then you can import it into Illustrator or Photoshop.
I deal with this on the DAILY, I hope this gets solved soon.Thx

commentedOpen your photo in finder, Then go to file/export. Export your photo to a PDF and then you and put it right into Illustrator. Annoying but the best way I have found.

commentedSo awesome how adobe never resolves or even acknowledges common issues that every one is having.

commentedAdobe Illustrator CC 22.1, macOS 10.13.5
 Steps to reproduce:
 1. Get an image with newer ICC profile like P3 (wide gamut). Such are screenshots from newest iOS devices (e.g. iPad Pro, iPhone X)
 2. Drag to canvas or import file into Adobe Illustrator
 3. Observe actual result (see screenshots)
 4. Compare with file open in other apps (InDesign, Sketch, Preview for mac)
Expected result: images should be visually the same
Current result: build 22.1 completely corrupts colors. Image is barely recognizable.

commentedI had the same problem and ended up "printing" the page as a PDF. That will work with a screenshot of a webpage but not of anything else. Very odd snafu.
