Change "Export For Screens" Save Path Default To File Folder
If I go to File > Export > Export For Screens the default save path points to the last folder I used. What we as users are expecting is the default path to be equal to the same folder as the Illustrator file is currently located in.
If you feel this should not be the default at least give us a way to change this in the AI Preferences. Thanks!

I would echo previous comments that "Export for Screens" should default to the current file's folder, just as it does with "Export as..."

Adobe, please implement this basic use case (defaulting to exporting to the same folder as the opened .ai/image file) for Export for Screens just like it was implemented for Export As.
About half of the 116 votes for implementing the similar "Export As" feature request were actually requesting this be implemented for Export As Screens instead or in addition to that, as seen here:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/31990174-export-jpg-png-any-format-in-same-folder-of-ai-fHowever, for some reason, that request was only accepted and implemented for Export As, resulting in inconsistent behavior with this extremely tedious bug or undesirable behavior remaining for Export As Screens.
As it stands now, it's a lot easier and saves time to use other applications for basic image editing like cropping and saving in other formats, etc. (when don't need major editing) instead of Illustrator primarily due just to this massively tedious and extremely time-consuming process of having to navigate up and then down again dozens of folders to completely different paths or even drives every time I export, which I have to do every time I make any change to any Illustrator file.So please considering implementing this too, for consistency and because half of the 116 votes in the other accepted feature request were actually (per their comments) requesting it be done for Export For Screens instead.
Thanks,

Please give us that option.
I hate selecting a folder every time!

It was almost 3 months ago that this idea was introduced ... Does anyone have an idea whether Adobe will respond to this or how we will receive feedback? Or is it necessary to have a minimum of votes before this even comes to Adobe's attention?

I would like to add in for this request. I work from a central server, and it would save me massive amounts of time to be able to export to the folder where my .ai file is located rather than the last location. Even better would be multiple options about the default export folder.
The current setup is garbage.

Yes +1 vote for me. This is a really frustrating waste of time every time I want to export some graphics
-
Please do not forget to make it also in Export / Save for web (we still use this, don't dump it).
Each file should remember it's own export folder and if it's not recorded, show the folder where the file is located now. -

Definitely would be helpful if this bug is fixed. Photoshop has this feature. We need it in AI please!! Thank you.

This would be a very helpful feature. I work on multiple projects at any given time and have to switch the export path regularly. Sometimes if I am not paying close attention I end up exporting to the wrong folder and then have to go and find and remove those images amongst potentially 100s of other images. Its an edge case when I actually want to export to the last folder used, especially if the file I am working in is not within that same folder.

Dear Adobe Team, this is about user experience and in my opinion the lack of this option has a negative impact on this. Please provide fix or option to change settings in AI Preferences. Thanx!

I can't understand how a company like Adobe can't fix this simple request. Seems absurd to me.

I use this http://www.ericson.net/content/2011/06/export-illustrator-layers-andor-artboards-as-pngs-and-pdfs/
I would have prefered to use the one from adobe.... but this problem is so annoying

The export for screens dialog always exports to the last location regardless of the file you have open. If you have multiple documents to export this makes it very hard to use. Effectively you must pick the file location each time you export.
It would be much better if the location was set per file. Then you could set it once and export easily.
