  1. Illustrator on Web now has Quick Pen tool. Desktop Ai needs one too

Illustrator on Web got this Quick Pen tool (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-on-the-web-beta-discussions/introducing-the-new-quick-pen-tool-beta-in-illustrator-on-the-web-beta/td-p/14146260) in October of 2023, very similar to the recently abandoned Spiro Tool plugin, to Tangent Arc tool by Graffix, and to some of Astute Graphics’ plugins.

This is not a replacement to any one of them, and to the Illustrator’s native Curvature, but it’s an interesting tool to have at desktop as well.

  2. Scale stroke width of multiple points

I'd like to be able to scale the stroke width of multiple points at the same time, that way they match. That, or copy the stroke width value of one point and be able to paste it onto another.

  3. Puppet Warp tool should be able to affect meshes.

I could have pushed this object around in seconds if the Puppet Warp tool worked on meshes. Instead I have to laboriously grab and move one point at a time to make the distortion meshes in this glass match up with the body of it.

Please remedy this so that the next time I try to use the Puppet Warp tool to push stuff around that happens to contain a distortion mesh, I don't get this error.

If there's any other type of object that will spawn a "The Puppet Warp tool does not support this type of object" error…

  4. Increase size of anchor points / handles for curvature tool

anchor points / handles for curvature tool is too small for me. It would be better if I can change size like pen tool anchor points / handles size

  6. Interpolated Anchor Move

Similar to a font developing tool, many lettering illustrations involve maintaining the stress of a curve while moving anchors. So with this tool, you'd be able to move an anchor point and the curve handles adjacent to the anchor would move proportionally to make the curve look similar despite the anchor moving. This could be a global setting that is enabled in preferences.

Here's a better breakdown of how the feature could behave:

  7. Don't stop Duplicating when ALT is released !!

When using Select and Direct Selection Tools, you can duplicate elements by holding ALT-key down.

But if you release the ALT-key before you release the Mouse Button, the duplicating ceases . This differs from how most of the other applications behaves. For example in Photoshop, duplicating continues even if you release the ALT before you release mouse button.

How this works in Illustrator leads often to situations where you think you have duplicated something, but you actually just moved it. And often I edit the element I thought I duplicated, and loose lot of work as it wasn't actually duplicated…

  8. Subdivision for Ellipses / Circles

For constructing objects with circles, it would be nice to have a possibility to enter the subdivision / number of Anchor Points on a circle.
All circles have 4 Anchor Points and this can be subdivided to 8/16/etc., but when we need a circle with 6 evenly spaced Anchor Points, it's quite a hazzle to get there. Why not add a subdivision field?

  9. artwork over canvas isolation toggle

Toggle function that changes the view between showing all artwork in a drawing, and only showing everything that is actually over the canvas. basically, a quick and easy toggle to see what an exported pdf would look like. Exactly like the toggle built into InDesign (toggled by "w").

  10. Option to auto-sharp an anchor point when using the pen tool.

By default when making a anchor point with the pen tool it gives you a curve anchor(2 direction handles). I request that we have the option to make it a sharp anchor(1 direction handle).

Currently in order to make a sharp anchor you have to go back and select the anchor again. This is a slow method if you only draw in sharp anchors. By having this new option it will be lot faster and easier to draw in this style.

  11. Set exact dimensions to one object in a group that affects the entire group.

Example: I have 3 squares. 2 large ones and one small one overlapping the two. (see picture)
The task is to set the small red square to exactly 140 x 140 mm without losing the proportions in size or position to the blue or green box.

I want an exact scale up where the end result is that the red square is 140 mm x 140 mm.
I can use rulers, but the small square doesn't snap since it isn't touching the bounding box. Using this I can eyeball it and get a result like 140.062 x 140.062 mm. I…

  12. The same tool as Moho's magnet tool

Has anyone tried Moho by Smithmicro? Pretty fast vector animation tool. It has a drawing adjustment tool called Magnet. Here's how it's described in the manual: "The Magnet tool is similar to the Transform Points tool - it is used to move points around. However, instead of moving the selected points, it moves points based on the strength of the magnet. When you click with this tool, the region of strength is displayed. Any points within this region will move with your mouse, but the points closer to the center of the mouse click will move the most. (The radius…

  13. Blend Tool Default Settings

I use the blend tool primarily to create specified steps between objects. The tool always defaults to smooth color spacing. It would be great to be able to set a default spacing mode. In fact, it would be even better if the properties panel showed blend tool options.

  14. Perspective Tool and Strokes.

I've recently gotten into the Perspective Tool in a big way. My only problem is that STROKES' don't conform to Perspective. I've worked around this by converting the stroke into a fill using OBJECT > PATH > OUTLINE STROKE. It gets the job done, but I lose all that "strokey" goodness. Can a button be added somewhere to "Allow Strokes To Be Effected By Perspective?"

  15. Anchor point lasso tool and manipulation suite.

click to create a selection area on a selected object(s). Scale, translate and rotate selected anchor points.

This would save lots of time when working with pre-existing artwork or if you draw something and notice afterword a certain part in too small, to big or a little out of position. Some of this is already available but require manual selection or the selection in question to be a square.

  16. Shift key to draw lines by understanding the direction I want it to go

I have used AI for 20+ years and a lot of little things could use improving.

One of them is the shift-line coding that makes a straight line when you hold the shift key down. More times than not, the line is drawn in a direction I did not intend and I have to keep redoing. I am assuming that the software registers the first micro millimeters of a direction I am going in instead of understanding that 99.9999% of the momentum of my cursor is in a DIFFERENT direction.

Area and perimeter information on every selected object.
It was available on CS3 version for exemple and it was very helpful for us architects.
The window was called CAD tracker and the geometry part was super practical.
Please, include it in the new version !!

The team has started working on this request. As a first step they want to understand the requirements correctly and build the right feature set based on the feedback gathered.

If you are willing to discuss area calculation in a call session, block a time slot here: https://outlook.office.com/bookwithme/user/c1b7ecea1cbd42a2a7068cfeb7861bdd@adobe.com/meetingtype/Fn8tXNebh0eyv4xTnvQ-3Q2?anonymous&ep=mlink

  18. Show the angle between two paths when dragging anchors

A new feature I'd like to see is a Smart Guides tool tip which shows the angle that is created between two paths, when manually dragging an anchor.

There could be the option of...
    1. ... always displaying the relative angle.
    2. ...only displaying the tool tip of common angles, such as 15, 30, 45, 60 degrees.

In the attached mock-up, the bottom right-hand anchor of a square is being dragged to the right. The angle that is created relative to the top of the square displays as a tooltip, in this instance 33 degrees.

  19. Circle tool unexcpected results CTRL + SHIFT

using the Circle tool and cntrl + shift produce unexpected results, i excpect some it to create a perfect circle hitting both the starting click down and realease locations like only hitting ctrl dose when creating ovals .

    • normal circle tool creates ovals
    • holding shift creates circles
    • holding ctrl creates a oval from 2 points holding both dose not create a perfect circle from 2 points.

  20. Zoom Tool Controls (Fit to Screen)

Can we make the Zoom Tool have the same Control settings as the Zoom Tool in Photoshop? I design in Large Scale Canvas Files. I like to design Art for Shirt Prints/Broadcasting Graphics for Entertainment Usage/Graphics for Sports Teams.

This means a lot of Re-Scaling Images after put into the documents. When I Re-Scale the images and go to position them. I need to Zoom In onto the destination of the image's positioning.
After I position that image. I can go back to Full-Size Image. But, I have to go to my Magnifier % at the bottom of my program…

Indeed, Illustrator does not have 'Fit to Screen' option in the context menu for the Zoom tool.

But it provides other ways to do that:

    View > Fit Artboard in Window (Cmd/Ctrl + 0)

    View > Fit All in Window (Opt/Alt + Cmd/Ctrl + 0)

If you are interested in Zoom to Selection command, please vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/31427962-zoom-to-selection-fit-selection-on-screen-with
