I can't believe I haven't posted it, but search says so.
Since CS4, I guess, when cool and fance gradient annotator showed up, gradient tool had lost it's ability to snap to grid. WHY? Do you think nobody needs to snap gradients? I need, at least.
It should also snap to Smart guides!
Everything must snap to grid, when Snap to grid is enabled.11 votes
Illustrator is not compatible with huion tablets. The cursor moves when pen moves but no ink comes out when press down. This works in ALL other products (e.g photoshop) except illustrator. Several people have reported this issue.11 votes
I draw as well as design web layouts in Ai, and I spend a lot of time sliding objects around on a pasteboard and using Smart Guides to snap them next to each other so they're touching. I'd like to add a set of features to the align panel that allow you to select two objets, define the target object with a second click, and then define which edge of the objects you want them to touch on: top, bottom, left, right.11 votes
Sometimes I want to draw new path WITHOUT connecting to existing one (and without locking artwork). I'd like to have a modifier key that will temporarily disable auto-connecting.10 votes
All three stroke gradient types should be applicable to all three stroke alignments. At the moment, I can only use all three gradient types if the stroke is aligned to the center of the path. If I need to make for instance a circular gradient on a stroke (the second gradient option), I am forced to align the stroke to center.10 votes
Draw a circle by plotting 2 points + defining radius
Draw a circle by plotting 3 points
More object snapping options:
Snap to tangent
Snap to parallel
Snap to Perpendicular

Can you make the pathfinder work with open paths? See attachment for what I am proposing.10 votes
I don't always need LIVE shapes. They have different controls, different treat of Control panel, they bite off Transform palette. Sometimes I just need rectangular path, as it was before, not Rectangle. Now I have to use Plain rectangle plugin on common basis, rebound to M hotkey.
I would like to use them if not a bug with Ctrl+Enter in Width/Height fields, while proportion constraint is off (Live shapes don't constraint it with Ctrl+Enter, as everybody else do, — I'm surprised I haven't reported it yet.)10 votes
"Divide objects below" (what I call "cookie cutting") with multiple objects that are from a group, all at once . If I want to cut a pattern (let's say, giraffe spots) out of a shape located below, I should be able to divide the object without having to do it for each individual spot. If the spots are already grouped together to form a pattern, that pattern should be able to divide all at once.10 votes
Deleting an anchor point by default break up the shape of the stroke.
What about smart delete, that automatically adjust nearest handles to save the shape of the stroke.
I dream about it from the cs3 version :)10 votes
Make the pie feature of the circle support snap to angle.
With the onset of 4K & 5K monitors, the red dotted guides have become incredibly hard to see. I would like to suggest that the guides be made thicker or that there be a way for me to increase their thicknesses in settings so they can be seen better.10 votes
Same functionalities as shown here in the subscribe tool https://astutegraphics.com/software/subscribe/
basically the 'Circle by Points Tool' in Subscribe should be a functionality added to the Ellipse Tool. And the 'Arch by Points Tool' in Subscribe should be a functionality added to the 'Line Segment Tool' in Ai as well. These are common functions in in cad programs and need to be added to Illustrator natively to improve vector building.9 votes
Distribute spacing in align tab uses wrong units.
The document and settings uses metric millimeter but distribute spacing uses something else.
If i type in 6mm it instead give me 1 or 2mm spacing.9 votes
the ability to create a word cloud based on specific words, fonts to be applied to specific shapes or artwork. This would be very handy.9 votes
To add the ability to puppet rig illustrations directly in Illustrator.
This could not only be used to easily move parts of character illustrations while keeping it intact but also export illustrations ready for animating in After Effects.
Main feature would be ability to pair objects together using anchor points.
e.g pairing characters hand to forearm and forearm to bicep and bicep to torso. so when the hand is moved the rest of the linked objects will follow.9 votes
The ability trim or extend a line using another line. Like the one they have in Autocad. And the ability to draw various tangent line.

Blend tool in AI is weak.
Please add acceleration for both attributes and positions for blended objects, as other competitors do.
Remove positioning by bezier tension, people hardly use it (watch forums), — make separate curve control for it (or at least sliders!)9 votes
Some wonderful tools that would help are Trim, Extend, and Corner tools.
Trim allows you to stop a line at another line. So if you drew a + you could trim the top to the - and make a T.
Extend does the opposite. It makes a line longer until it hits a target line. It turns |- into a T (rotated).
Corner tool trims or extends two lines as need to make a corner. |- becomes L by clicking both lines.
Look to AutoCad or Revit for examples.9 votes
Surely this should just be a default option for spiral drawing, in the current state of design i would imagine regular spirals would be used far more often than logarithmic, the current way to create them is lengthy and cumbersome.
Hope this makes it!9 votes
