At the moment Ai does not support Color Swatches to assign artboard background color, and currently exporting a PNG doesn’t support respecting the color, as well as into some other file formats — but the team intends to add these.
Please share more feedback, describe your workflows and needs. It helps to shape the feature.

Thank you, but it does not. The problem is when we work on very large documents with multiple art boards, in my case anyway, I am called to have different backgrounds either for print or for web. So currently what I end up doing is just creating a background rectangle and locking it. It would’ve just been easier if I could’ve assigned a background to a specific art board. This is not mission critical, but it would definitely be useful.

The latest Beta 29.5 52 should now remember the settings in the Export for Screens dialog and keeps it between sessions. Please try to test it to see if it works as expected for you and comment back.

For years we were told to move our documents to ACC and now I realize that I cannot place an AIC artboard into an INDDC document. And this problem has been documented for years to boot. I wish you would have told us this before we started migrating our entire library to the clou.d.
