Bump. This is still super annoying not being able to do.

Patterns that have parts that overlap is what this is useful for. Imagine trying to create top pattern. Best you can get is the bottom one (without having to resort to manual ********).

This is a much bigger headache for more complex patterns that need to be maintainable, and especially when doing custom corners.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

This have been acting weird for me too. It happened after I enabled "Transform Tools" in Edit → Preferences → Smart Guides… "Transform Tools". This setting is usually off by default.

It snaps to the optional angles defined below it. I cannot remember if it used to be this buggy, but after exporting, then reset, then import my settings, it seems to work better as far as I can remember. Although still buggy.

The snapping is still a little weird, but nonetheless snaps to the defined angles like you expect — and turning it off makes it only snap rotation to 45 degrees like the default behaviour you would expect.

    Here's a demonstration https://i.thevirt.us/01/S5j0h.mp4

    1.
I exported my settings (Edit → My Settings → Export Settings…).

Then shut down AI, held down CTRL+Shift+Alt and clicked AI to reset on startup. It didn't do anything for me. Just asked for admin privileges and didn't reset anything. So I navigated to my preferences folder (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) and removed the folders manually.

When I started back up, AI was reset and the bugged settings worked. I then imported my previously exported settings, AI rebooted, and my settings were loaded back in — now with the previously bugged options also working.

    2. I am using English UK locale, on a Norwegian OS/Keyboard.

It doesn't seem like the "Auto Size New Area Type" does anything. It seems to always use auto-sizing on either way.

Furthermore "Fill New Type Objects With Placeholder Text" and "Show Character Alternates" is not clickable, at all. If you go to a different section, e.g. "Units", then back to "Type", those two last options will disappear. See video attached.

    Information:
OS: Windows 10 Pro, latest update to this date.
    Version of AI: 23.0.1

    Definitely a problem.

    Temp solutions:
If Simplifying Path doesn't do the trick for you, you can use the scissor tool (C) and make a cut on the anomaly. It will fix it, but in return give two paths.
