Unable to uncheck Type Pref Indic options & Fill object with placeholder text on preference migration from 22.1
- MacOS Sierra ; Illustrator CC 23.0.1
- I'm trying to get the punctuation right while typing in Hindi, but I can't select "Indic Options". I went to Preferences>Type>Language Options. I can select "Show East Asian Options" but i can't seem to select "Show Indic Options" which is a bug.
- I expected to type correctly in Hindi
- I can't type in Hindi with the right punctuation and I'm on a strict deadline! Help
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

I had this problem, and was so ******, just kept clicking (I know, stupid), then I noticed a 1 pixel blue line appear at the top of of the check box when I clicked at the very top edge of the box. I could "check" and "uncheck" even though the "check" was only the 1 pixel blue line, so I then I clicked [OK] after turning on the blue line. Then went back to the same window and the "Check" was, in fact, turned on. So I don't know if it will work for others or on other systems, but it worked for me. The moral of the story... sometimes wild, frustration-based clicking works! Hope this helps.

Hey all,I have found a quick workaround but its not ideal for long term or large project use. You will need access to InDesign.1. Open InDesign and create a new document.
2. Create textbox and type or paste required text
3. Select textbox > open "Paragraph" options window ( Windows > Type and Tables > Paragraph)
4. Click on the Hamburger button in the top right-hand corner of the window (Button with small lines on it)
5. From the options > Select " Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer"
This should now change the text inside the text box
6. With the text box still being selected, copy it (entire object not text)
7. Open Illustrator > Create new Doc
8. Use the "paste" function > DoneYou should now have the desired text useable in illustrator. If your text reverts back. Outline the text in InDesign prior to copying it to illustrator > Copy object > Paste into Illustrator document.Hope this helps :)
See attached screen shot for InDesign Paragraph options
This worked for me use: Mac High Sierra | Adobe CC 2019

I'm working on an infographic series in several languages including Arabic using Illustrator CC version 23.0.3. The checkbox for 'Show Indic Options' is not clickable, same issue as above.
The workaround Ankit suggest does make the 'show indic option' checkbox clickable. So that is fixed for now.
The text direction option in the paragraph and character panel as described at https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/arabic-hebrew.html is not displayed at the panel ....
Is there a fix for that?
Thanks in advance! -
Hi,
Thanks for reporting this bug Illustrator Team really appreciate this.
We are able to reproduce this issue in house and we are investigating it .Meanwhile ,kindly use workaround of using fresh preferences by renaming your preference folder "Adobe Illustrator <version number> Settings" at below mentioned location
Win: <OSDisk>\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\
Mac: <OSDisk>/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Regards

1.
I exported my settings (Edit → My Settings → Export Settings…).Then shut down AI, held down CTRL+Shift+Alt and clicked AI to reset on startup. It didn't do anything for me. Just asked for admin privileges and didn't reset anything. So I navigated to my preferences folder (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) and removed the folders manually.
When I started back up, AI was reset and the bugged settings worked. I then imported my previously exported settings, AI rebooted, and my settings were loaded back in — now with the previously bugged options also working.
2. I am using English UK locale, on a Norwegian OS/Keyboard.
