337 votesPlease share your thoughts on the following: 1. Would it make sense to have a separate desktop app, just to create charts, and bring them inside Illustrator or InDesign? It may not be on cloud. 2. Or would you rather have us work on building it within Illustrator? Thanks

676 votesWe have done further updates to Dimension tool with recently released version - 28.3 You can create and use your custom scale for dimension, hide or show units on dimensions and dimensions are now sticky to the object - they transform as well when you transform the object. San

commentedHi! I think that the display of measures should emulate the one from Figma, with a simple alt+rollover:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/16v2m_y3paTDSEN6IjY3Im8bwdLDpU0Z2/view?usp=sharingThis would be practical for everybody, specially UI designers.

289 votesThe latest Illustrator build (v29.2) now offers a way to see the distances between a selected object and an object hovered over / edges of an artboard. - Click on the object you want to measure the distance from
- Press Opt/Alt and hover over the object that you want to measure distance to
- You can also hover over empty area to see the distance from the selected object and the artboard boundaries
Please try it and come back with the feedback. An error occurred while saving the comment San

commentedExact! The current measure tool is not that precise nor practical, because involves unnecessary interaction (non snapping dragging) . I think that the display of measures should emulate the one from Figma, with a simple alt+rollover:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/16v2m_y3paTDSEN6IjY3Im8bwdLDpU0Z2/view?usp=sharingI'm so used to it, that not having it in Illustrator has become increasingly frustrating This would be practical for everybody, specially UI designers. San

62 votesStarting v29.6, the measure tool snaps to other objects thereby giving you the ability to measure different dimensions quickly and accurately. Please upgrade your application to the latest build and let us know what do you think. San

Hi!
Such tool is being developed by Adobe. Have you heard of http://data-illustrator.com?
It's in early stages. The problem with the char tool inside Illustrator is that is really destructive as soon as you start formatting. It is good for small charts, but it is unusable when you need to keep it linked to more complex databases.
Meanwhile, I would look at Datawrapper, Flourish, RAWGraphs, etc.
