This is fixed in 27.1.0 Prerelease build-GM candidate build 2, available in Creative Cloud Desktop Prerelease section.
As part of the fix, we have added suffix checkbox in ExportAs dialog to toggle on/off the functionality.

This feature has been implemented in Illustrator Beta 28.1.0.100 you can download from CCD. Please try it, see if it fits your expectations, and comment back.

177 votesThe team again asks for help with this issue, since there are not specific steps they can try to reproduce it — the nature of the bug is random.
If you are a Windows user, the next time you spot a missing or a duplicated number in Artboards panel, please follow these instructions below.
1. Open Task Manager
2. In Details tab, locate 'Illustrator.exe'
3. Right click it and choose 'Create dump file'
4. Wait until the dumping process is complete and click 'Open file location' button
5. Find 'Illustrator.dmp' (sorting files by date helps) and compress it with any archiving utility
6. Upload the archive to a file hosting service of your choice and sent the link for download to sharewithai@adobe.com. Please use the subject 'Artboards numbering bug dump'

An error occurred while saving the comment This went away for a little while, but it's back today. It won't export the duplicate numbers.

For those of you who are frustrated with how long this is taking, the AI Beta app does not have this bug. I spent some time with Support last week, and this was the temporary fix they gave me. No issues there, files export with the correct naming.
