  1. Show thumbnails in Artboards panel

I would love to be able to see a thumbnail of the artboard in the Artboard panel (similar to how you can for layers) I often have many artboards and would like to move them into a certain orders visually — not just by name.

  2. Keep the Spacing value active when you have 1 artboard in New Document dialog

I often start with 1 artboard only in a new document (and I create these using classic dialog, because it’s faster than the modern one). There is a bug with the value used from a previous session (like 20 mm I love) looses precision (becoming 19.999 mm)... I reported this problem here — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/51116116

But even with this bug fixed, I don’t see why this field should be disabled.
I can see why Columns is, and other options in these section... but the Spacing GETS used when you create a new artboard LATER — and Ai offers now way to…

  3. Make fields respect units entered

When creating a new document, it is annoying having to select the units from a drop down.
Why not just respect the units the user enters: 1920px, 210mm, 10cm, 5"

Typing this in the input field:
    1920px
when the dropdown is set to centimeters,
    results in 67.7333 cm

It's contra intuitive, even more since the result has the unit typed in the input field.

    My request:
Please make this smart: when typing 1920px, the unit should change to pixels,, when typing 10cm, the unit should change to cm.

  4. Make Artboard for Selection

Currently, there's no way to add an artboard using the actions pallet. If there were, I would create the action that said:
    Copy Selected Element(s)
    Create a new blank artboard
    Activate new artboard
    Paste in Place.

Essentially, it would create an identical artboard for whatever you had selected. This would be nice to have built in to the artboard options... if you have something selected when you add a new artboard, automatically copy it in its same location on the new artboard.

  5. Support Artboard Background Fill Color when saving to Cloud (.aic)

    1. Windows 11
    2. 30.2.1
    3. Create an .ai document and change the fill color of an artboard. Save it locally (still .ai). Close and Reopen it and observe the fill color is the same. Now save that document to the cloud (.aic). Close and Reopen it and observe the fill color is reset to transparent.
    4. I expect the artboard fill color to stay the same when saving as an .aic, just like it does as an .ai
    5. Attached

I tried to troubleshoot it through the Illustrator Discord channel - https://discord.com/channels/634884897185595412/637037500451258369/1476316280947474583

  6. Retention of fillable form areas when editing and saving an existing PDF.

Illustrator used to retain fillable form areas when editing and saving an existing PDF. Pretty please. We need that feature back. It's wasting a lot of production time recreating the form fields. When you open and edit graphics in an existing PDF in Illustrator, the instant you save the file (not "Save As...", just "Save") all of the fillable fields are erased.
Since it's all Adobe, why can't they work seamlessly like they used to?

  7. Move artboards in illustrator by clicking on the artboard title and dragging

This was standard behavior in the past and was a very intuitive option to me.

  8. Share for Review entire drawing area

It would be great if you could choose to either share for review in Illustrator artboard by artboard (as exists now) or to share the entire pasteboard/drawing area so a reviewer could see all of the artboards at once. View the file exactly as the author sees it, akin to how Figma does it. Sometimes the finished area is helpful for review. Other times, such as early in the design phase when you're really just ideating, sharing the whole mess makes more sense. I currently screenshot the whole thing, but that makes commenting harder.

  11. Create new document using current document settings

I would like to be able to create a new document using the current settings in an open document; artboard measurements, bleed, color swatches, etc.

For example, when I am creating logos I often iterate on multiple artboards until the client is happy with the final output. I would like to then create a new document so that I can copy/paste the final, approved, logo into a new doc so that I have a clean file I can share or link in InDesign documents.

This could work as either an option in the new document window, or right clicking an…

  13. Move artboards with the Selection Tool the same as Photoshop

In Photoshop, artboards can be moved simply by selecting the artboard name above the artboard. The same functionality would be useful in Illustrator, instead of having to select the Artboard Tool.

  15. New artboard names cover other artboards when zoomed out

After zooming out from artboards, the names occupy other artboards.

  16. Make permanent artboard captions displayed on top when using Artboard Tool / mode

In Ai 2026 (build 30) a new option was presented, 'Show Artboard name on canvas', in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display, enabled by default, following this request:
Provide an option for making artboard names / numbers visible on the artboard (like when editing artboards), https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/40405873

While it’s great and all, these new subtle captions replace the old 'label' ones we used to get when enabling Artboard tool / mode... and these new captions are rendered BELOW the artwork, even when I specifically want to deal with artboards, not artwork.
These should appear on top when using Artboard Tool, and…

  17. Turn off artboard names / labels when using Artboard Tool

When using the Artboard tool, the artboard label can interfere with the artboard content. Can there be an option to turn the artboard name off or move it to be above the artboard and not within the boundary?

To hide the permanent captions for artboards, go to Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display and disable the new 'Show Artboard name on canvas' option.

This would restore the previous behavior with labels being displayed only when Artboard Tool / mode is active, and shown above the artwork.

This feature was added because of this request

  18. I would like the Share for Review links to show the file name instead of the random letters and numbers.

I would like the Share for Review links to show the file name instead of the random letters and numbers. When I have 90 documents to share among a dozen reviewers, they get really hard to track.

  19. Active artboard should correspond to the focus of the mouse or object(s) last placed on it.

The active artboard should either be activated by the position of the mouse, or from the placement of the last object. For example, using the mouse, I move an object from one artboard to an adjacent one. Therefore, the active artboard should be the adjacent one since I just placed an object on it. The reason this important for me is when I want to place this object on a new artboard and immediately center it to the page. However unless, I click on this new artboard first to activate it, Illustrator still has the previous artboard as active, and…

  20. Our own custom new document templates

It would be great if we could have our own folder in which to store our customized NEW DOCUMENT TEMPLATES and have it in the row where RECENT, SAVED, MOBILE, WEB, PRINT... are stored.

There is also an error when saving a template in the templates folder:
