  1. Display artboard captions when exporting artboards

Every time when i have multiple artboards and hit Save As, Ii don't know exactly which artboards i want to include, cause i don't know the specific number.
So i go back out of the save as dialog, pick the Artboard Tool and save again, now able to see which numbers i want to include. I would be less time consumption if it would show the numbers of the artboards always no matter which tool is selected, when there is a save as or export dialog started.

  2. Add Plus buttons as the sides of a selected artboard to quickly add new artboards

Photoshop displays nice (+) buttons to allow users to add new artboards to any side of a current one.

In Illustrator, Add buttons exist only in Control and Properties, and always add an artboard next in a row.

    Not fair.
And if you add these new Add buttons — allow to disable them too. Some will disagree on having extra fluff on canvas.

  4. Ability to duplicate artboards with Cmd+D

It would be nice if once you alt+drag an artboard in order to make a copy, you can keep duplicating the artboard with the same displacement, just pressing Cmd+D.

As it happens when you do it with a form or an image.

    Thanks!!

  5. Don’t include the stroke of the object when creating an object-sized artboard with Artboard tool

Create artboards to CENTER of stroke pleasssseee!
If I create a box with a fill and stroke, using (Shift+O) for Artboard tool, I double-click my box and a new artboard is created.
When I double-click my shape with the Artboard tool, it creates an artboard around the stroke width and not the actual bounding box or CENTER of the stroke.
I believe Illustrator used to perform this operation correctly in the past.

  6. Previous Zoom

A "Previous Zoom" or "Previous View" command which would change the zoom/magnification to the most recent zoom state. Also the option to center on selection or artboard. This will allow users to toggle between magnification of say 400% and 3200% or 5% and 1200% if they're regularly checking for details and positioning within a larger document which I do constantly in a prepress environment.

  7. Learn to Rearrange artboards with coinciding or nested coordinates

Illustrator will not rearrange artboards that are completely overlapping (that is, have the same dimensions and coordinates) and will ignore nested artboards, moving them along with their enclosing artboard.
It should be able to detect complete copies and give an option to rearrange smaller nested ones.

  8. Artboard auto-naming preferences, one-click artboard with size dialog

I often have to make documents with many artboards for various ad and social image sizes. Currently, one has to make these artboards, then hand-name them.

I'd love a preference that would set new artboard names automatically to their widthxheight. This way, when exporting files one could use the prefix to export everything easily and skipping a lot of manual work. It could work a bit like the batch file export dialog, allowing you to "build" newly created artboard names based on filename, size, etc.

Also, if I click with the new artboard tool it would be great if it…

  9. A way to remove objects located outside of one or more artboards

While working in a file with many artboards and while exporting each artboard to a separate EPS, AI carries over all graphics from the original file even if the graphics from each EPS file is resumed to it's artboard.

  12. Better grid settings

Inkscape 1.1 has great grid management.
It's embedded with the document: because grid needs vary a lot from a document from another
It's accessible on the lateral panel, while on AI you need to enter the general settings; all while snapping is in the view menu (go figure...)
There a two types of grid.
    You can set several grids.
On this lateral panel, and for each grid, you can easily define there enable , visible and snapping status. (no menu spelunking)
You can set the grid origin with coordinates or by alignment to the page (on AI if you modify…

  13. Zoom in, out and pan when in dialog window

No matter what dialog window we are currently in, we should be able to zoom in and out and pan the artboard.

  14. Show artboard user-assigned names and numbers when exporting/saving

When saving as a PDF (and other similar activities) the dialog box will allow you to filter to certain artboards using their numbers. However if you're using lots of artboards it can be difficult to know which artboard to select. I usually have to go back through the document, activate the artboard tool to see the names, make notes of the number, and then resume my export/save. How about adding the user-assigned name along side the artboard numbers in the dialog filter. Or possibly have a list of artboards (like the artboards panel) and simply check boxes for exporting.

  15. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+PgUp with single artboard doesn't work as it does with multiple artboards

When working with multiple artboards (I use them for exporting tiffs from larger design) using Ctrl+Shift+PgUp is quite handy to quickly navigate to first, master artboard AND set zoom to 'Fit artboard to window' with one hotkey.
But when you have only one artboard, pressing Ctrl+Shift+PgUp (expecting it to fit artboard in window) does nothing.

I think it should work consistently.

  16. Recolor multiple layers panel layers at the same time

In Photoshop, you can select multiple layers, and add a color marker at the same time to all of them. I often use the colors of layers in Illustrator for UI and packaging design to separate visually which layers are finished (green), and which ones I still need to work on (red). But I have to double click each layer one by one in order to change the color.

Yep, there is a way to change the color of edges for a selection of layers — 'Options for Selection' command in the Layers panel’s flyout menu.

But perhaps the original poster meant colored backgrounds to mark layers? Like Photoshop allows to and like we can do with actions in button mode?

If yes — please make a separate request about this.

  17. Display Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option in Control panel and Properties while using Artboard tool / mode

The Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option should be displayed when the user is actually in the "Edit Artboard" mode, using the Artboard tool. It is common problem when you want to duplicate an artboard and you have locked background. In most cases, I want to move my artwork with the background.

  18. "Align Artboards to nearest pixel" or "Rearrange selected artboards" to avoid extra pixel on export.

Similar to "Rearrange All artboards" except I don't want them rearranged, I just want them to snap to the nearest whole pixel to avoid the extra pixel when exporting raster assets.

    OR

    "Rearrange selected artboards only"

I frequently set up documents with with dozens of artboards of various sizes organized and positionally grouped in specific ways. Currently I need to manually set x and y pixel coordinates for each artboard because "rearrange all" destroys the iterative structure of my document.

Please have the file open as Fit Artboard in Window. Like it used to be. It is annoying to have to hit the shortcut, Command - 0 every time I open a file.
