Points of a path being able exist in multiple different layers
If you have every tried to make Celtic knot designs, you know what I am talking about. If points of a path can exist in multiple layers this will make it a lot easier for parts of single paths to go below or above other paths, like a ribbon going through different ribbons, making knots or weaves, without the need to cut parts of paths and shift them to different layers. If you have not tride to make celtic knot designs (or something similar) just imagine if you need to edit the curves this 'chopped-up' path with multiple strokes and…

Masked object within a masked object?
Is it possible to put a masked object (with clip) inside another mask? When I do this - the masked object within gets its clipped path released.
1 voteOne can apply a new opacity mask to an object that already has it, if you group this object first — then apply a mask to this container. However, if your object is a single group already, Illustrator won’t allow you to create another group (for obvious reason, to prevent an accidental 'group wrapping'). You can workaround it if you group it with a dummy object and delete it after, or use a free Group Anyway script: https://onthehead.com/ais/group003/ -

Create outlines while the layer is inside a clipping mask
I'm forced to move text layers outside of a clipping mask before I can create outlines and then move them back. A small inconvenience but every small thing counts when designing! Thanks :)

Artboard masks
For me the artboard should mask to the edge of the page or to the bleed, I don't want to see any content beyond the edge of the artboard on the pasteboard. The Trim preview is not really suitable for working as then I can't see the pasteboard.

Feature to remove white background seamlessly
I think this should be a basic option, to remove white bg seamlessly. or any colored background. There are lot of basic apps that does that, why a sophisticated software like this doesnt have that option?

Allow snapping to objects that are masked out and also make opacity mask objects visible in outline mode
For example, if you draw a large box and place it completely inside a small box so that all four corners of the larger box are masked out, then try to drag a guide it will only snap to the smaller clipping mask, the guides wont snap to the larger box unless you hide or release the clipping mask. Also, as an additional feature I think it would be of benefit if when inside the opacity mask, when you go to outline mode you could then see the objects within the mask.

Layer clipping mask (a bit like a paste-inside on steroids!)
I'd like to be able to convert a shape into a layer clipping mask which would then allow sub-layers to be created/converted so that they only remain visible within in the shape's boundary and would subsequently honour any sub-layer effects applied therein.
Why?
Well at the moment I have to expand any paths with effects applied to layers so that any effect is captured inside the clipping mask. This results in a destructive edit to my artwork and file duplication so that I can revert to the previous editable state when I need to make any changes.

I regularly…1 voteAs Scott Falkner says in comments, you can clip a whole layer if you select a path you want to use as a mask, then open the Layers panel and select Make Clipping Mask from the flyout menu.

Clipping mask with text
It would be musch easier if text could work as clipping masks without expanding (or apply the create outline command on) them.
Thanks for listening!
