100% size is actually actual size
Allow Illustrator to be monitor-aware. Have a feature where there is an onscreen ruler, and ask the user to hold up a real ruler to the screen. Let them drag a slider until the onscreen ruler perfectly matches the physical ruler. Then let this % value become the new "100% size" for that machine. Currently to see my artwork at 100% size, I need to set my view to 192%. I wish there was a setting to set my "100%" to default to 192%.

In CC 2019 (latest update 23.0.1), at 100% Zoom 1inch artwork would display at 1inch in physical (Print) size, on any display. If this doesn’t work right for screen design workflows, please use the checkbox Preferences > General > Display Print Size at 100% Zoom, to turn off the feature. Currently this feature works only on primary display, and there are plans of extending this to other attached displays.

Ideally, IMHO, it would ask the OS what the screen PPI is every time I did view>100%, and work based off of that. I regularly switch between my laptop's "Retina" screen and an old 94ppi 24" external screen.

Depending on the screens, we could also think about placing an A4 sheet of paper (can be letter), which, these days are more commonly available around my desk than rulers, as the standard meter.
Obviously, this property would be displayed in the properties panel.

I suppose this might be a help to some users. For the past ten years or so I have been using a simple script, saved as an action with keyboard shortcut, which I recalibrate when I change monitors, so I have no particular use for it.

There's a script which does exactly this. You can insert it in the action and assign to an F-key.

131% is the exact preset I need in order to view the "real" size of the work I'm designing. At 131%, something I'm designing on letter size paper will ALSO appear letter size on my screen (I've used a ruler to measure). This exact preview percentage helps me determine general readability, & what people can still see given the work. I currently need to type 131 on the lower left each time I need to go back to this preview, & I wish there was a way for me to do it quicker, which ideally would be to be able to set this as a preset. Not sure if this feature already exists, but it would be nice to be able to add it.

As long as I can remember, illustrator's zoom level percentage has meant diddly squat, because 100% zoom doesn't actually ever represent a 1" line on the screen with 1" worth of pixels.
I would like to see a way to enter in a factor into the preferences that would correct this. E.G. My screen at 100% displays a 3"x3" square at 2 3/16" x 2 3/16". What I am proposing is that we could enter in a factor to correct this:
Since 2 3/16 multiplied by 1.371429 results in 3, the factor I would enter in would be 1.371429. It would be even nicer if there was a "wizard" feature that helped one determine the zoom factor to use or set it for us based upon physical measurements.
A separate vertical -vs- horizontal factor may or may not be needed for some monitors, i don't know, but something to consider.

I have illustrator cc 18. I select for instance .25 for a font size but the actual size
turns out to be smaller than .25 actual. I never had this problem with illustrator before can you advise how to correct. I have to physically change settings to actually get a .25 tall letter -

I want it just to Zoom to Actual Size.

Zoom to Actual Size without consideration of the artboard. Why should this function center me in an artboard?
