Eliminate the Adobe Search Pane in the top right of illustrator
Adobe does not seem to be able to fix the problem of Adobe search being selected by default when a file is opened. I use a master layout page & am constantly pasting art I have copied to the pasteboard into the stupid, virtually useless Adobe search window. It immediately hangs Illustrator which eventually crashes.
This bug is ridiculously enraging. I cannot believe Adobe has not addressed this. It can't just be me having this issue

Please check how you like it now and reply back. -
Please bring back Cmd/Ctrl + Opt/Alt + Enter to Transform values to make a proportionally constrained copy
Please bring back this “lost” features from earlier versions of Illustrator;
1) When holding down COMMAND (CMD) when entering a TRANSFORM value + ENTER, one used to scale proportionally, just as with activating the “link values” icon to the right, only without having to link and de-link all the time ...
2) I am sure the link is great for casual or more inexperienced users, but these key commands used to make my work so much faster. Also, holding down CMD + ALT used to make a new instance or copy with those new values, logical and consistent, somehow this…

Disable Learn Window at New Project Creation
I'd like to have the ability to disable the Learn window from popping up at new project creation. I'm perfectly comfortable in the AI environment, I don't need to be reminded every time I create a new project how to create in it. If I'm unsure of how to do something, I use Google. I can understand if this feature is useful to novice users, however it's not for someone who has been working in Adobe products for 10+ years.
I've attempted to search for an option to disable it, and was unable to do so. Am I dense, or…

Add a slider to the History panel to quickly review the states of the document
If we want to go back to a certain history state of the current document , we can scroll the History panel and click each step item, guessing the time, judging by the names of these, the scrollbar position (limited by the capped amount of steps)...
It’s a guesswork in most cases, since some steps still have generic names (like always 'Move' and not 'Move Point', 'Move Handle', 'Move Segment', 'Move Path', 'Move Group'...)Can I just grab a slider and scrub with it, seeing all the previous states rendered on canvas — and fast? Today Ai sometimes takes too…

Display Color Mode and Resolution (PPI) for a selected image in both Info and Properties panels
Currently only the Control panel (which Ai team decided to hide for new users with their training-wheels Essentials workspace) shows a resolution and a color mode for a selected image, and Links (but only when expanded, which again is not the default).
Properties shows nothing, despite the name.
Same goes for Info panel.
Make these better.Originally requested by Junior Rocha

Make scrollbars higher contrast or allow customizable colors for them
The gray on gray scheme of the slider and handle in the scrollbars is extremely difficult to work with. Higher contrast is needed or provide the ability to customize the slider color. This is an accessibility issue for older or visually impaired users!

I want to control how many pop-ups I see.
I'm just trying to work, Adobe, but all the pop-ups are driving me mad! The tool tips are fine, but to be working away and be bombarded with this pop-up telling me to share my work and then another asking if I know how to do such-and-such.... I discover new features on my own whenever the app is updated, and if I want to find out anything else, I know how to do that. I don't need constant reminding. Please, please please, Adobe, please let this be a preference setting that can be turned off.

Make Recolor Artwork freely draggable
The initial Recolor panel cannot be dragged around on small screens (that you need to set up for recording tutorials or for whatever other reason). The controls are hidden. It would be great if this panel would behave like a normal panel when dragging around.
In the screenshot the monitor is set to 1280 x 720 and the dragstrip is not available. For even smaller screens, some control might get out of reach.

Customize Illustrator
At this moment it's a painful story to change the default graphic style or font. Especially if you have to work with certain design guidelines it would be easier to have a workspace that features the right colors, fonts, etc on default. Please try to figure out how to make this easier for us.

One tab-over between Width and Height in New Document window
In New Document window, I am used to typing a numeric dimension for Width, then pressing tab once to enter a dimension for Height. In the current version, if you press tab after entering Width, it goes to the unit of measurement first instead of to the Height. It feels unintuitive.

Change the Separations Preview panel to behave like it does in InDesign
Can you change the Separations Preview panel in Illustrator to behave just like it does in InDesign? The Separations Preview panel in InDesign shows the percentage of each color separation when you hover over an area of the artwork, and includes the Ink Limit option. Both of those features would be extremely useful in Illustrator.

AUTO NUMBER LAYERS?
As a graphic designer I often work with illustrator files that have thousands of layers, these layers are very well organized in folders, I would like to suggest that illustrator add a function allowing users like me to auto number every layer. The layer number would be visible on each layer . This would let me quickly identify a layer with a specific number and then return to that layer later if I want to read manipulate the artwork there. It would also be great if I could, I.e. right click layer X X X and asked to move it…

Improve Symbol Workflows
Today the defaults always persist for new symbols - i.e. if you want your symbols to be Static you need to select this option manually from a dropdown every single time you create a symbol. If the Symbol Options dialog simply remembered the previous choice it would be super helpful.
Today you can drag a linked image into the symbols palette, name your symbol, configure your symbol choices, then click OK - only then is an error shown that 'a symbol definition cannot contain a linked image'. It would be way more helpful to provide this feedback on the drag…
5 votesIn the latest versions the chosen option for symbols sticks once you select Static instead of Dynamic ands stays like this for each new symbol we create further: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32371252

Layers Panel: Layers Name Available Width
I like my Layers Panel thumbnails to be large, like really large, larger than 'Large' for sure, so that i can easily see what's going on. I also like to name my layers briefly but accurately for the same reason. I don't have a big, wide screen however, so for me every tiny width saving matters. And here i come to the thing that infuriates me: why does Illustrator already trim layers names when there is still plenty room for them to be displayed in full?

Combine color and stroke in one palette
Older versions of ai had color and stroke in one palette... since in almost 100% of the cases when you draw an object you will need to modify both. This could be be an option under both current palettes.
