Preferences for layers panel
Obviously there are a lot of ideas and requests for the layers panel because everyone wants to customize it for their own uses. Adding a bunch of options in the preferences panel would be better than a lot of "permanent" changes.
I don't like the fact that every element is on a separate layer at all, for my projects it is not necessary. In InDesign I get to choose what elements are on which layer - that would be sooooooo nice in Illustrator

Hello!
When right-click > Rotate, It would be very handly to have the angle field already selected to just insert the value, or to have it selected when you press Tab first time (now you need to press Tab 4 times in order to have the value field selected).
That would be great. Thank you!

Allow difference keyboard increments for up/down and left/right arrow keys.
Please let us define separate increment values for each arrow key, or at least up/down and left/right.

give users the option to copy layers, and NOT have them renamed.
currently, Character Animator REQUIRES multiple layer hierarchies that use the exact same naming convention.
When I duplicate a perfectly good Layer Hierarchy, every damned single layer in it, Gets renamed. This creates Hours of tedious work for me that is incredibly stupid.
I want a set of options in the preferences to dictate exactly how Illustrator behaves when it duplicates a Layer/Layer Hierarchy.
I want to be able to change the string used.
I want to be able to set it to use a numbering system (number, step, padding)
I want to be able to turn it the **** off.…

Please add a drop-down feature for font families, that allows all families to collapse and lock in the drop-down position.
Can you please create a system preference in which I am able to collapse all font families at once, and will lock them in the drop-down position?
It is very hard to scroll through the typefaces and collapse families individually, one by one.1 vote -
Transform options with clickable arrows all the time
Is there a way to always have the transform options like this (see "Transform with arrows.png" attachment) with clickable up and down arrows? The feature disappears unless you are grouping one or more objects (see "Transform no arrows.png" attachment).
1 voteIt’s not about arrows. It’s because for some object Distribute commands are displayed and they takes the space Transform controls would take instead. What you can do is to press Control panel menu (rightmost button with three stripes) and untick Align and/or Distribute controls to make sure that Transform will always visible. Also, for now this is the only way, Illustrator doesn’t allow to change the order of controls for Control panel :(

cancel all button while opening multiple files
when selecting a list of files for copy or move in explorer or finder, an accidental doubleclick will cause AI to open all files ....
At present, one has to try and cancel every single open. Every now and then, AI quits in that situation or has to be killed1 vote -
Search filed is focused by itself
Every time I go back into Illustrator, the current version, my cursor automatically appears in the search area in the upper right hand corner. This was never the case in the past. This is problematic because, when I go back into Illustrator, I may want to select a tool or paste an object and unless I click on the artboard first, it pastes into the search window. Just one more simple glitchy thing that SLOWS DOWN WORKFLOW!
1 voteIn the latest release this search filed is gone, and it now has a button instead. Most probably it does solve the problem. Please comment back if it does not.

Hybrid Outline View
It would be useful to have a hybrid outline view that combines both Preview and Outline modes. This would be useful in manipulating objects that are hard to see or have no color (for example bounding boxes without a fill or stroke) without needing to switch views.

Object > Path > Clean Up - change back to notification
Clean up used to tell you how many things it cleaned up (I believe?)
Now it says if it was unnecessary, but if it does clean up, doesn't say how many things it fixed. This was quite satisfying to know and also can help problem solve/clue to where the cleaned points were. If you are dealing with similar art files on a regular basis this could be useful information.1 vote -
False translation in preferences window
In preferences window's unit section the "type" text is translated wrong.
Type must be translated as "yazı" or "yazım" as in the top menu.The text "tür" must be corrected as "yazı" or "yazım".

Allow Color Coding for windows and tabs
I appreciate the many ways Adobe has updated the workspace in Illustrator to be as efficient as possible. However, one thing that I constantly find myself running into is the slight frustration of having to click, or read, or hotkey through the different tabs or windows in order to perform a new function or locate a file.
A project may require many windows in my workspace or I'm working with multiple files I'm having to bounce between.. I'm in a good creative workflow zipping through my project, and then, I find myself having to stop and do a little search…

Sign in concomitantly with different accounts
Please, Adobe, remember that what you think is your "user" takes many forms. Please, also remember that we are pulled and pushed by all competing platforms that try desperately to create hindrances in the pursuit of their own ecosystem.
We may need to have two different accounts running on the same computer due to legacy files - programmed obsolescence at it's best, hopefully soon unethical.

Search items on canvas within Layer panel
Hi, it's hard to find a certain path/vector art assets from the layers menu if the list is super long. My suggestion for the search function is when you click the asset on the art board, you can simply hover your mouse over the layer's list and click e.g. ',' (comma) and it shows you the right art asset from the layers' dropdown list.

1 voteIllustrator offers a way to locate a selected object on canvas in Layers — with the Locate button at the bottom of the panel (the magnifying glass icon). If you have several objects selected, the topmost one would be scrolled to.
There is a separate request to make this function work automatically.
Another request asks for a hotkey for the button.
