  1. Right click to select layer

I want to be able to select a layer by right-clicking over it. This would eliminate the need to dig into the layer panel (often disorganized when in the early, experimental stages of a design), and would be especially helpful when selecting a locked layer without having to Unlock All.

See Sketch/Flinto for good examples of this.

  3. Gradient pallete resize

Seems to have a lot of dead space in the pallete when resized for detailed gradient design

  4. Ctrl+Scroll to zoom instead of Alt+scroll in Windows

Can you please add an option or something to change the zoom shortcut from ALT+Scroll to CTRL+Scroll?
Because in Windows the ALT button activates the app menu which is pretty stupid! Or at least disable the activation of the app menu with the ALT button.

For example I zoom in using ALT+Scroll and now I want to select the Type tool using T on the keyboard and I get the Type drop down menu from the top (see attached screenshot).
And as you can see this can become very frustrating especially when spending hours in Illustrator!

    Btw please don't suggest…

  5. Make setting reference point hotkeyable

    Problem Description:
I change the reference point all the time.
I'm so tired of grabbing a mouse and searching for a reference grid and precisely clicking in a tiny-tiny square.
Please add a possibility to set a hotkey for each position!

Look, there is a whole numbers block at the right side of a keyboard (if you are not using these fancy ***** castrated versions which don't have it). I could have used it to set the reference point, using something like Ctrl+Shift+3 to set it to the right bottom.
I can use an action for doing this, bit I'm…

  6. Add menu highlighting the same as the new InDesign feature

I find the new menu highlight option very useful in InDesign. It would be helpful in all Adobe products.

Please add menu highlighting the same as the new InDesign feature.

In the attached I have highlighted PDF and Print Presets.

  7. Option to maintain aspect ratio when resizing objects by default

Currently, if you want to resize an object (by clicking and dragging a corner) without distorting it, you need to hold down the shift key.

I would like (at least the option) to have Illustrator maintain aspect ratio by default when resizing, and hold shift to distort.

Even fancier would be an option to set the behavior of the top/bottom and side "handles"... distort vs. resize while maintaining aspect ratio.

    Thanks!

  8. More toggle buttons in top row

You know, AI has a lot of options that can be turned on and off.
And some of them switched on and off quite often: snap to grid, guides, smart guides, edges, corner widgets, bounding box...

Of course, all of them can be accessed via View menu, but uou just don't see them there! Users need no only SWITCH them, but KNOW what current state is.

Are my guides are turned off or I've deleted them or moved occasionally?
I want to draw a complex thing — is my grid's snap is turned on or I need to do it…

  10. Let the "." on the numeric keypad work as a decimal separator for all countries.

In Dutch, we user the comma as a decimal separator. (0,5 is how we write a half)
Lots of use use the International English keyboard, and the English versions of Adobe CC. But for some reason Illustrator refuses to recognize the "." on the numeric keypad as a separator. When I type "7,2" Illustrator show this correctly in the input fields, but when hitting enter, it makes "72", just skipping the comma.
Please make a Preference to set the "." or "," on the numpad always to act as a decimal separator.

  11. File preview in home screen limited to artboard

In the home screen previews of the most recent files are available, but the preview includes all objects in the document, regardless of the artboard(s), so that the preview does not necessarily reflect the artwork very well.

(I routinely include loads of stuff outside the edge of the artboard, copies of elements I’m working on, template objects, etc. Which are part of my work process, but are just noise when it shows up on my preview.)

I therefore suggest that the preview only includes objects (or parts of objects) within the artboard(s).

  12. Easy setting of layer's opacity and 'Target Selected'

Some users still find confusing setting opacity to whole layer.
When they change opacity value in Transparency palette with no art selected, it does nothing or (if 'New Art has Basic Appearance' is unticked in Appearance palette options) applied to new objects.

The way transparency is set for a layer in AI is not that obvious, compared to Photoshop's way, and require from user knowledge of working with appearance.

    I propose this:
    1. Make a shortcut for 'Target Current Layer' command, which is not anywhere now (or even 'Target Selected', which will target current layer, if nothing is selected)
    2.…

  14. Export for Screens - bigger window size for "prefix"

On export for screens, the "prefix" section: In addition to adding a checkbox for AI filename, make the prefix window longer. I frequently have longer prefixes and it is a minor pain to scroll over to change a prefix name. There's plenty of room in that box to make it the width of the rest of the export screen.

  15. Locked objects Show a "lock" icon Like InDesign

A great feature to have in Illustrator is to unlock the locked object by clicking on the Lock icon next to the object. its hard to tell which object is locked except by going to object -> unlock All, or Check the Layers Panel. Adobe InDesign has this feature for years.

  16. Make Custom Views usable.

Make it possible to "overwrite" an existing Custom View instead of having to delete it to update a View with the same name.

Make it possible to rename more then one view at a time in the "Edit Views" dialog. Right multiple views can be deleted but only one view can be renamed because renaming only takes effect when "OK" button is pushed.

  18. Font scaling like photoshop has now

Can we get illustrator to have the same type of UI scaling capabilities that Photoshop 2019 has now? I saw that illustrator added the ability to have small, medium and large interface but can we also have text scaling separately as well like small, medium, large so we can change that independently? Right now I have illustrator open and the icon size is ok but the text is too small now. So if you wanted to have the interface as small but the text as medium, thats what I'm talking about.

  20. Make a default workspace for "Illustration."

The software is called "Illustrator." Seems like there should be an "Illustration" workspace.
