Hi All,
Thanks for reporting this issue, but as we are unable to reproduce the same inhouse, we would need some more information
- Please share the details of the Ai version (desktop) you are using.
- If possible , it would be helpful for us to reproduce the issue if you could share the files with which you constantly face the issue.
- Please share system details and GPU details for the machine you are using.
Warm regards,
Aishwarya G Gadodia

Hey Mark - Just wanted to say you are not alone. I downloaded your sample AI file and immediately got the GPU problem and it greyed out. You didn't mention what version of Illustrator you are using but I am assuming 27 as well.
I also have Illustrator 26.2.1 installed and in that version, your file works perfectly fine with 100% full GPU acceleration. The problem is not your well spec'd out computer that's for sure.
For an experiment, install a previous version of Illustrator and let me know if you see the same thing.

I was contacted by Adobe about this and they said they can replicate the issue on their side, and it will be resolved in the next update they make.

I'm having the exact same issue as well. This is pretty bad that it continues through so many versions.

I'm here to support this post - newest versions of Illustrator have a very bad bug with files switching to CPU mode and not being able to switch back to using GPU.
