When working with a complex illustration, the usefulness of smart guides gets reduced to nil because of the sporadic seemingly random snapping to anything except for the point of focus, There is no proximity snapping in Illustrator it seems like (and there was a request about that, I guess...) — so yeah, we need to tame smart guides.Affinity Designer tries to solve this with its 'Snapping candidates':

Not an ideal solution, Ai should do better.In Illustrator, we have these two requests:

An error occurred while saving the comment This is an insanely complicated task.
Not every font can be converted to a series of separate stems. What about round corners? decorative elements? optical compensations? This is only us, humans (or maybe some new neural networks), can see separate parts in the merged and united glyphs.However, there are some tools which can help you edit these paths.
1. A paid plugin, Reform by AstuteGraphics, https://astutegraphics.com/plugins/reform — it allows you to intuitively edit outlined strokes, very close to Width tool, but perhaps even better.
2. A paid script. MojiDisassembler script, https://sppy.stars.ne.jp/mojidisassembler — it tries to break united shapes into overlapping parts. The only downside of it — it’s in Japanese only, but little text in it and it can be translated.Actually, these two tools combined work magic.
As for the automated one-click solution — thanks for the request :) -

An error occurred while saving the comment How do you expect it to work, when your project is located in one folder and all its assets and imaged that are linked are scattered across the entire disk or even network? Illustrator have no idea that the folder you copy has all the links and that it should relink the files. The document stores paths inside, and no external changes with files linked to you can’t change these paths without an action from a user. All Ai can do is to check the paths and see if the files are there.

— a paid Astute Graphics plugin VectorFirstAid, which have Completely Ungroup command, which also allows to deal with clip groups, https://astutegraphics.com/plugins/vectorfirstaid

To understand what is happening, you have to open Appearance panel and study the Layers panel.The 'Arrows' layer obviously has strokes inside, but then another stroke applied to the level itself, covering all its children. You can see it Layers — the top layer has the ring target marker filled, which indicates it has a specific appearance applied, and so does the every separate arrow the group has.
However, you don’t have the layer selected, but one object, the circle — so you see its reddish stroke color, and not the gray one the layer has.
Click the ring target to focus it, open Appearance, and click Remove Appearance button.Assigning appearance to a layer is a powerful technique, but it's easy enough to mess things app, if you accidentally misclick and target a layer instead of just selecting it.

In case you missed it, latest Ai versions now do have Cut, Copy, Paste (all subcommands) in the context menus.

An error occurred while saving the comment Oh, wow, wait, sorry! This one was about the iPad! What I offered work with the desktop Illustrator, and I am not sure if it works with the tablet. Again, sorry!
An error occurred while saving the comment Jennifer, you can do it in 3 ways:
1. Click first one and then hold Shift and click the last one — Ai will select all of swatches between these two. Don't try to include [None] and Registration ones, Ai won't allow to delete them.
2. From the Swatches panel’s menu choose 'Select All Unused' command — it does what it says. You can also write this command into the action along with the deletion and run it whenever you want to clean up excessive garbage. I have it on a hotkey even.
2. If you want a document to be clean in the first place, you can edit document profiles to not include any of the swathes (and also symbols, brushes, styles, etc.) you don't need. They'd be overwritten on a next update though, so you’d better to backup then.

This is most definitely happens because of specific color profiles linked or missing for the image and the color settings Ai on iPad uses.
