Eyedropper is now available in the color picker dialogue to help you select color from your artwork.
Please download the latest version of Illustrator (V29.2 and above) to experience the changes and let us know your feedback.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lance, so I believe it works the same for you, and the disable Convert option actually dictated by the color settings too. Right?
An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks, Lance. We need to compare Color Settings then. I use General Purpose Europe 3

An error occurred while saving the comment Actually we can do this exactly thing, but only slightly less comfortable, because there is no partial bounding box in Ai, as you just demoed.
But functionality-wise — it’s doable, see the GIF

An error occurred while saving the comment Ingrid, what do you mean by saying 'effect'? An effect you can apply with Effects menu or something else?
Effects can be removed in the Appearance panel, small crossed circle button. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Marc, the (fx) icon does not get dragged for me in InD.
Can you record a short video/GIF to show how it behaves for you. Also, actually, you can do this in Illustrator: you open Appearance panel, drag the icon in the top left corner (a small thumbnail image) and drop it onto an object you want to apply the appearance to. You can’t drag separate appearance attributes though.

An error occurred while saving the comment Interesting. Actually, it works as intended, the stripped fill is applied to the text as a group (it is actually, a special kind of group that has glyphs)... but I see the intention. This can be addressed I believe, but this won’t be an easy task at all.

Hi Everyone,
All the effect checkboxes have now been set to ON by default, and are sticky (meaning that if you disable preview, on next launch of Illustrator preview will remain disabled). This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.
What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback.
