Saving custom presets is now available in BETA starting V28.6.578.
With this new change, you can now configure your own document preset and save it for later use. To access this functionality, configure your preset from the File > New dialog (only for the modern one, the legacy dialog don’t provide it) and click the Save Preset button next to the document’s name in the top right corner of the dialog.
Your custom preset is now saved and accessible from the 'Saved' category.
Please try out this feature, so that if there are any feedback from you, we can resolve them and make this feature available to everyone.

Now about the issue. Personally, I don't care about exact HSB values, only about the utility of HSB input in navigating colour space. So the solution, for me personally, would be to include secondary value display in HSB dialogs, showing CMYK numbers, with a checkbox to "snap" input to round CMYK numbers and a second checkbox to keep colours inside gamut. This way, HSB input is only an overlay for CMYK mode, not a mode in it's own right. So when working on something like corporate identity, where numbers have to be exact and stable, they are, but when you're simply using global swatches to keep the artwork consistent and easy to recolor, you don't have to switch input mode every time.
And obviously, "you had one job" is just a meme reaction to first being positively surprised by finally addressing this issue, only to discover, that it hasn't really been addressed.
An error occurred while saving the comment Łukasz Martynowicz commentedIt is even worse, than I thought when writing my last post... HSB is only remembered for global swatch dialog when in RGB document mode. In CMYK document mode, it always opens in CMYK. Seriously guys, do you even test those things before publishing those new "features"?
Can I suggest, that instead of letting Illustrator guessing or "remembering" which color mode to use, you instead add a "sticky" CHOICE of default colour dialog mode in preferences?
An error occurred while saving the comment Łukasz Martynowicz commentedHOW, just HOW is this possible, that after finally addressing this issue, you have failed so miserably? Yes, if I change the mode of the colour panel to HSB, it stays in HSB, as long as I don't use "convert to process" icon when using global swatch - the panel then switches to RGB/CMYK, depending on document mode and stays that way, until I set it to HSB again. I work with a lot of global swatches, so your advertised "color mode memory" "works" about half of the time I have to use colour panel. But it is not the only place, where you did not implement it. When I double click a swatch to edit it, the panel remembers HSB. But if I want to make a new swatch from selection via + icon in the panel, dialog box opens in document colour space.
You had ONE job....

Thank you for the plugin suggestion, I'll try it. The "split path" method is a bit too cumbersome for a fast lineart workflow, segment dragging is all in all more convenient.Łukasz Martynowicz shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Łukasz Martynowicz commentedBlender and some other programs have a ctrl modifier key default as a snap toggle and it is a godsend. This should be easy to implement. As it is now, I have to turn smart guides on/off all the time when making linearts with pen tool, as I want to start/end them exactly on other paths, but I don't want anchor handles to snap to paths or angles. This is annoying as ****.

An error occurred while saving the comment Łukasz Martynowicz commentedThis one in particular, but I never understood why AI does not have all of the blending modes that are available in Photoshop. Linear Burn, Linear Dodge (Add) and Vivid Light are the ones I miss the most.

Hi Everyone,
All the effect checkboxes have now been set to ON by default, and are sticky (meaning that if you disable preview, on next launch of Illustrator preview will remain disabled). This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

Catalina on two different Macs from 2017 and 2018. I can’t upgrade OS, as some other important software is incompatible with later versions. Question however remains - what this process is for, since all functionalities of my typical workflow work without it? (I’ve killed this process and Illustrator remains fuctional and stable, for days now).
