"Adobe Illustrator Web Content" process runs when I open the document in latest versions of AI and keeps running forever, taking CPU and RAM
Title says it all. Wasn't happening up until few versions back. Still happens with 27.4.1.
Macbook Pro/2019, Intel, macos 10.15.7

I am told the only component that makes the OS to create this Web Content process is the Illustrator’s Comments panel. So if you are not using it — killing it should not affect you.
I myself would say there are other panels in Ai which depend on some online content, like Libraries, Version History... but no, as for today it's this one only. -

Catalina on two different Macs from 2017 and 2018. I can’t upgrade OS, as some other important software is incompatible with later versions. Question however remains - what this process is for, since all functionalities of my typical workflow work without it? (I’ve killed this process and Illustrator remains fuctional and stable, for days now).

The developers are aware of this and are investigating the root of the problem.
The initial observation seems to point at some deprecated API behavior in older Mac OS version. They suggest trying upgrading to later version of OS at the moment to see if it gets fixed.Łukasz, what OS version are you using?

Just updated to 27.5 and this exact problem occured. So, the most important question is - what exactly this process is there for? Illustrator seems to be working just fine without it...

When document is open in AI (version 27.5 and few versions before this) "Adobe Illustrator Web Content" process is running, taking 100% of CPU and lots of RAM.
Need to kill it every time I run AI.
Happens with macOS 10.15.7.
