An error occurred while saving the comment A lot of the Scriptographers were artistic coding, but some of them were crazy UI improvement.
The variator is a "transform each" with random. It should be a basic tool. Adding some randomness to any bunch of items is a a really tedious process at the moment. You should figure out a tool.

Your step 2 is so simple and straigh foward, it should only take another 23 years for Adobe to understand it. -

Done in version 26 (2022). You can now use Tab and Shift+Tab to cycle focus while renaming layers and artboards (but not assets yet — vote to make it happen, https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31567951). Yay!

Mimic the After effects way, use some ideas from C4D, anything, but do something. We are requesting it since 1999 i think.The total yearly amount of time lost by people renaming layers in illustrator could have been used by humanity to reach Mars already.
An error occurred while saving the comment Yeah, what is so complicated about that? What the heck are you working on at Adobe? Can't you take few hours to implement such a basic function, instead of wondering how you could get more money with the same product for f sake?
And why the heck doucble clicking sometimes renames the layer, and sometimes opens the options dial box? Have you ever try to use your own software, just to get a glimpse of how the user struggles with your paleolithic UI?

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

Hi, you wrote that you "added this issue to your backlog" back in 2019.
Te problem still exists today in 2023. Can you share with us an update about this backlog of yours?
