The main issue for me is that if i shift-box through some elements that i already have selected, instead of adding to the selection, it removes some of the already selected objects (toggle). I wish shift/ctrl would be like any other CAD/graphics program (including photoshop!) where shift=add ctrl=subtract. the toggle is absolutely maddening.

Hi Everyone, This feature has been available since August 2020 release (version 24.3). Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html Thank you for all the feedback.
You can now select multiple layers in Layers panel. Click the bars (they get highlighted blue) if you want to operate layers and not their content (e.g. to drag to reorder) or click their markers to select their content — circle (target ones) or square (selection ones) next to them. There is no real difference which to pick, but if you want to select a range of layers, using Shift, use target markers.

We are working towards giving preference to Photoshop for editing linked images, if Ps is installed. This may mean the label showing as ‘Edit on Photoshop’ when an linked image is selected. The change does not affect OS level file type associations.

I am exited to announce that 'History Panel' is now available in Illustrator Beta. To access it, open the Creative Cloud app and go to "Beta apps" and install "Illustrator (Beta)". You can launch the history panel via the 'Window' menu > 'History'.
We look forward to your feedback on this new feature in Illustrator.

PLEASE! Even Photoshop has this feature. Literally every other design program has this. AutoCAD, Rhino, Blender, etc. etc.
