It would be really useful if the missing images retained the path to where they were linked to when the file was last saved. This would help identify which ball park to start our searches for re-linking.
Thank you.
Apologies if you have already had this request. if not, I'm surprised!

Starting from the February 2024 release, version 28.3, this option is no longer enabled by default for new documents. If you had hyphenation enabled in an existing document, Ai will respect this.

This feature is now available in all the public builds starting V 28.5. Please give it a try and let us know what you think!

Can't we have at least all the other images in the same folder relink automatically, if for now, we have to relink at least one?

You have an excellent feature called Close All which gives you the option to save all whilst closing. It would be really, really useful to have a save all function too! This is especially useful when you have a few large slow saving/opening files, and you don't want to lose the changes you've made across all of them but want to carry on working without having to Close All, as mentioned at the start in order to save all.

Merging several single line text into one word wrapping text box.
The need often occurs when open old AI files or flattened PDFs that converts paras into single line entries.
It would be great to be able to select all these single lines and merge them back into one text box with correct word wrapping.

Hello,
We have started working on the tech that allows us to enable the following:
- Ability to convert the outlined/expanded text back to live text.
- Ability to lock objects to a character/glyph of a live text, allowing users to change the text (properties) while the object stays locked into the character.
As we work through the complexities of handling different font families, font size, and other font properties, we would love to meet with you and share our thinking around it and understand :
- Your use cases and workflows that this feature will help you with.
- What is most essential for you.
- The workarounds that you currently use to achieve this.

Starting with version 29.3, Illustrator got the 'Embed permitted fonts for file preview' option in the Illustrator Options save dialog.
Currently it’s disabled by default, because there were multiple confused complaints on the changed behavior.
When missing in your current system, fonts will render as previews in the documents that were saved with this option enabled — it 'bakes' these outlines in. When we try to edit one though, we get a warning and the font becomes substituted, as before.
For more details and help, please see this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/find-missing-fonts.html
However, this is not 'Convert text to outlines on open' as we requested it. The option does not provide a way to do that for all the embedded outline previews, and Ai still doesn’t allow to select these at once. So do please upvote the request and comment and tell the team about your experience with this option, for it…

not always repeatable. this happens when you least expect it to. What opened fine one day, then opens with the odd image shrunk and moved. Tried to repeat the process this morning and the same file now works fine. I'll try and document the next time I have this problem...

5 years on, we are still missing this detail?!?!?!
WHY???
Surely this must be a quick fix as the coding is already there in the other Adobe packages?
