23 votesI am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.0.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

An error occurred while saving the comment Yes, and when opening illo file later in different folder results in the file missing. So I am not sure if it is even properly embedded despite it showing embedded icon.

This is now possible with Edit > Paste without Formatting command, as per this completed request: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/31954825-paste-with-formatting-cmd-shift-v
Use Ctrl + Alt + V on Windows or Option + Command + V on Mac.

An error occurred while saving the comment Not working in 24.0.3
My embedded pngs (perhaps other linked file formats too) are missing when reopening the file and I have to relink then all over again. Not acceptable! I trust these links to travel with the file.
