  1. "Find Overset Text" Function

The overset text [+] icon can be easily overlooked in a busy document.

There needs to be a way to cycle through text boxes with overset text.

The way the Find/Replace Font dialogue cycles through and focuses on results would be acceptable.
These would be the minimum required buttons.
    Find (Next)
    Done (Cancel / Exit)

For an efficient workflow, include a preview of the overflowing text within the dialogue .
A "Delete Overset Text" button adjacent to the preview could save a lot of time since overset text boxes often just contain a stray line break.

    This function would pair…

  2. Groups Created from Outlined Text Should Inherit Text Object Names

When converting a text object to outlines, the resulting group is automatically given the default group name, which I find inappropriate. It would be better if the group inherited the original text object’s name.

In cases where the user has not assigned a custom name to the text object, and Illustrator displays the actual text content as the object’s name in the UI, that same text content should also be used as the name of the new group after outlining.

  4. Overset Text Warning on Outline

Outlining a textbox which contains overset text should trigger an alert.
This would help to avoid inadvertent loss of that overset text.
The alert could include [Cancel] and [Ignore / Continue] buttons.

Below is a link to a suggested function which would help the user find and resolve any overset text:

  5. Add 'bold/heavy' and 'italic/oblique' and similar features to the Font filter options.

I'm sitting here designing a character for my current comic, and part of this task involves deciding which font works best for their dialogue. Or which font family; I need to have at least one option for emphasis. Maybe two, bold and italic kind of imply different tones of voice.

I have a lot of fonts that are parts of families and have italic/oblique/bold/heavy/black variants. I also have variable fonts that include weight and angle/*****/etc sliders. And I also have a lot of fonts that have none of these options.

It would be very helpful if I could tell Illustrator…

  6. Cannot copy paste text from Illustrator generated PDF's

    To reproduce the issue:
    Create an Illustrator file
Create a new text frame, type anything and set font to Stratos (OTF) (as available from Adobe Fonts)
Export PDF through "Export for screens"
Trying to copy paste text fails

The issue occurs more precisely with characters that have glyphnames like uniXXXX.
Almost all characters in Stratos have uniXXXX names, even though they are present in the
AGL. So "A" has "uni0041" as glyphname.
We were under the assumption that uniXXXX glyph names were accepted.
The issue only seems to occur with .otf fonts.

See the two attached PDF's for
    251119-Stratos-ttf.pdf will…

  7. Make hidden objects to be excluded from Text Wrap

Text wrap: invisible objects cause text wrapping.
It's all in the title. Personally, I can't figure out if this is intended. If so, is it possible to add a flag to remove the effect of hidden objects on text?

  8. Adobe fonts searching on top of the font list > easier entry

Adobe fonts browsing on top of the font list. Instead of scrolling down the (large) loaded fonts list, I would suggest searching Adobe fonts on top of the font list or a dedicated search entry.

  10. Center Align Area Type

The area type justification settings aren't working. If there is a text box with more than one line of text, it will not justify properly. There are no extra settings for the text boxes - ie. padding, and I tried making new area type text boxes as well.

  11. Preserve Text Formatting when using Paste

I would like to suggest adding an option to preserve text formatting when pasting content.
I’m aware of the Place Text feature, but it doesn’t fully meet the need of retaining the original formatting from copied text.

This functionality would be especially helpful for my work, as I frequently design leaflets that include both English and Arabic text. Having a paste option that maintains formatting would save time and ensure greater consistency in my projects.

I would greatly appreciate your consideration of this feature. Thank you for the excellent work you do in developing Illustrator.

  12. Allow to control font for Swatch Info objects

Well... if one wants to choose font size for text in Swatch Info objects while making one — tough luck. We can only set the color chip size.

Since Preview is completely missing now (here’s the request about it: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49681244), it’s hard to evaluate if text would be large enough to accompany them.
Even if you change the font size after the Swatch Info is created — won’t do, each text line is a separate type objects, their leading won’t be adjusted, the card background rectangles won’t adapt!

One can think this font is based on the [Normal Paragraph…

  13. Keyboard shortcut to cycle through 'Change Case' states

Allow users to assign a keyboard shortcut to cycle through 'Change Case' settings. This was available on previous versions of Ai, and is a basic functionality that seems to have been removed for absolutely no reason.

  14. Dedicated Persian Language Engine for Illustrator

Persian-speaking users form a large and growing part of Illustrator’s user base. However, Persian text support still relies on the Arabic engine, which leads to issues in text rendering, alignment, and typography.
Persian has unique typographic rules that differ from Arabic, and a dedicated engine is essential for proper layout and display.
We request the development of a Persian-specific text engine to improve support and usability for millions of Persian-language users. I’m happy to provide examples if needed.
    Thank you!

  16. Proper UI for text box conversions between auto-width, auto-height, and fixed-height

The current way to convert text boxes feels very cumbersome. There really should be a 3 item toggle (properties panel?) for quick conversions to:

    Single height
    Fixed height
    Auto height

And there shouldn't be an overset text penalty if converting to single height.

  17. Type > Text wrap > Make / Release / options

I constantly expect Text Wrap to be in the Type menu instead of the Object menu. Can it show up there?

You don't have to move it from the Object menu, I'm fine with there being two ways to get to it.

  18. Type Automation/Modulation Tool

A automation/modulation tool allows type to be edited based off different parameters. (ex. typewriter function that allows more ink bleed onto random letters on a body of type). Similar to music production automation/modulation in that there would be values from 0-100 and then those settings could have a parameters (ex. setting the bounds of the automation from value of 80-100 and then having the ability to randomize that automation between those values). The highlighted text that needs automation/modulation would have a separate window with a linear grid to adjust each individual character and a drop down menu of what parameter…

  19. Preview Only Text Features

Can we get additional features to handle Preview Only Text?

    • A Highlight Preview Only text feature similar to the Highlight Substituted Fonts Preference?

    • A Outline Preview Only text button or preference?

    • A preference to turn the feature off all together? (Considering it is currently bugged and Area text within it's container gets moved — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/49832784)

Illustrator 2025 is now using embedded fonts instead of demanding they be substituted. You can not add text or paste it into a different document however you can adjust the tracking and the scale. When you paste it into a new…

  20. Korean text can't wrap cleanly at syllable boundaries

In InDesign, Korean text can wrap cleanly at syllable boundaries, but in Illustrator and Photoshop it still can’t. We’re simply asking for the same “syllable‑by‑syllable” line‑break option that InDesign already has. Who on earth wants to type Korean like “인‑디‑자‑인‑처‑럼,” with every syllable forced onto its own line? We just need consistent letter‑spacing and neat line breaks.

Korean users have been requesting this for more than ten years. Adobe, please—could you finally make it happen?
