1. Allow to use units other than points for Thickness in Pathfinder Trap or Pathfinder Options dialogs

   Illustrator is an international application.

   But for some reason we still have places in its UI when we are hardbound to specific units, like points in Pathfinder Trap, or PPI as the only resolution unit (while Photoshop allows PPCM — please upvote this request here, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32403901)

   No, this value can be anything, and we need other units than points.
   No, it does not get automatically recalculated.
   No, it’s not 1998 now.

2. User defined scales for Dimension tool

   Repost from general discussions:
   I'm delighted to see the addition of the dimensioning tool, but I'm not wild about the fixed choice of scaling ratios. The option to set one's own scales would be great.

   Failing that, a 1:12 scale seems like a glaring omission for those of us still using inches and feet.

   Am I missing something?

   It is possible now to set up a custom scale in Ai Beta 28.4.0.2.

   In Dimension Tool Options dialog open the Scale dropdown and choose custom to get the Custom Scale dialog.

   It works for decimal scales only, like 1:12 or 1:15, but not for Imperial scales like 1/16"

   Please try it and comment back.

6. 透明分割を分割統合すると、レイヤーの位置が変わる

   あるレイヤーを、添付画像の設定で「透明分割を分割統合」すると、レイヤーウインドウの中のレイヤーの位置が、一番上に来てしまうエラーがあります。

7. Improve Assigning Color Profile

   I’ve been running into some challenges with color profiles in Adobe Illustrator that I think could use improvement. Every time I open a document, I’m asked to either assign or discard a color profile. The issue is, even when I choose and save the file, Illustrator asks me again when I reopen it. Is there a reason it’s not saving my choice?

   Another thing that could help a lot is when working with multiple images, like 20 or more. Instead of getting prompted one by one for each image, it would be much faster if I could see a list and just check which images I want to assign a color profile to. Right now, it feels tedious, and it doesn’t seem to remember my selections.

   I know I can turn off the prompts, but since I still need to convert the images, having a faster method would be great.

   It might also be really helpful if Adobe created a simple course or video that explains how to handle color profiles. There doesn’t seem to be much clear guidance available for this.

8. A proposal to fix the mess that is Preferences > Units

   The original idea by Johan Perjus, from https://medium.com/design-bootcamp/things-i-wish-adobe-would-address-with-adobe-illustrator-4796a89e1bae

   Units of measure settings are a mess right now, units can be set for General, Stroke and Type on a “global” level under Illustrator > Preferences, but “General” are overridden by Unit settings on document (local) level, however it does not apply to, nor can it be changed for Stroke and Type on document level. Thus adds a lot of unnecessary back and forth visits to Preferences > Units if you are working with delivery for different mediums (who isn’t?) print, web, motion graphics and so on, add multiple markets to that (imperial vs metric) and it becomes a bit of a mess.

   See one of two attached images for an example of the confusion around units of measure that is currently plaguing Adobe Illustrator (26.5)

   I therefore suggest that a checkbox option to “Honor” or “Translate” Units of measure are added to Preferences > Units, or are removed from Global Preferences altogether, more on that later.

   The “Honor Unit Input” setting will change the unit of measure setting to any unit of measure added in conjunction with a value in any given numeric input field (cm, mm, ft, feet, in, inches, ', ", px, pixels). Similar to how numeric input for Height and Width values are currently implemented in Photoshop**.

   Example; if you enter “4 px” in the stroke width input field, the stroke width will transform to, and display as 4 pixels wide and also change the document unit settings for Stroke to Pixels, thus change current and/or override previous settings or preferences until changed. Obviously only entering “4” will only change the value and not the unit of measure.

   “Translate Unit Input” will translate the unit of measure entered to the unit of measure selected in the document settings and/or preferences.

   Example; if you enter “1 in” (or 1") in the stroke width input field and the stroke width preferences are set to Millimeters (global or local), the stroke width will transform and be converted to the equivalent width in millimeter value and display as 2,54 mm.

   Now I imagine the use cases where one would want to input in one unit of measure and yet have it display as another would be rare, hence why one could consider to simply remove Units from Preferences altogether.

   Instead simply make all numeric input fields behave as described under “Honor Unit Input”, however the “Translate” option could be useful in some cases, for example if one would need to output work in Metric but is more familiar or comfortable working in Imperial, or vice versa. But for the above reason I suggest the default Unit Preference setting would be “Honor Unit Input”.

10. Fontion Annuler et Refaire (Undo / Redo) à revoir

    Je n'ai jamais compris pourquoi le logiciel était programmé pour conserver en mémoire les opérations Affichage / Désaffichage et Verrouillage / Déverrouillage lorsqu'on utilise la fonction Annuler (Undo) ou CTRL-Z ou Refaire (Redo) ou MAJ-CTRL-Z, maintenant aussi ajoutée dans la fonctionnalité Historique. Ces opérations conservées en mémoire de l'outil sont complètement inutiles et nuisent aux performances de travail. Ce ne sont pas des opérations importantes à conserver en mémoire. Il est très facile d'aller dans le panneau Calques et d'ajuster ces paramètres. nous même si une erreur d'affichage/verrouillage est constatée. Lorsqu'on utilise la fonction Annuler, ce n'est JAMAIS pour annuler l'affichage ou le déverrouillage d'un calque mais pour reprendre une opération plus IMPORTANTE. Je vous suggère de modifiez la programmation pour conserver en mémoire toutes les opérations sauf celles-ci. Sinon, ajouter une option soit dans le menu du panneau Calques soit dans les Préférences générales afin de pouvoir définir nous-mêmes si on veut conserver ses opérations futiles en mémoire.

    I never understood why the software was programmed to remember the Show/Unshow and Lock/Unlock operations when using the Undo CTRL-Z or Redo SHIFT-CTRL-Z function, now also added in the History feature. These operations kept in the tool's memory are completely useless and harm work performance. They are not important operations to remember. It is very easy to go to the Layers panel and adjust these settings ourselves if a display/lock error is noticed. When using the Undo function, it is NEVER to cancel the display or unlocking of a layer but to resume a more IMPORTANT operation. I suggest you modify the programming to remember all operations except these. Otherwise, add an option either in the Layers panel menu or in the General Preferences so that we can define ourselves if we want to keep these futile operations in memory.

11. The Flip buttons in the Properties panel should copy objects

    In the Transform section of the Properties panel there are Flip vertical and Flip horizontal buttons.

    When holding down Alt while pressing the buttons it would be convenient if they could copy the object, like InDesign does.

12. アートボード等を削除してもナビゲータが広範囲をされるのを自動で調整をしてほしい。

    削除したあとも広域で表示されるのを
    自動的に調整されるようにしてほしい。

    たとえば、

17. Preferences did not copy from previous Ai version to Ai 2025

    The recent Illustrator update did not copy all the our previous settings & preferences. So we need to manually do it again. Previous versions doesn't have this issue? The only reason why we update is because our clients are using the latest Ai, but after update, preferences need to MANUALLY RE-DO! Why it keeps on happening! We are a 24/7 company. My goodness! Adobe!

18. The Dimension Tool needs to have live updates

    I like the new dimension tool, but it's not very helpful unless it updates the displayed dimensions when the size of the dimensioned object is changed. It should stay attached to the selected points when the size of the shape is changed as well.

    The Beta 28.4.0.7 now create live dimension objects, that track and follow the changes to the measured objects: resizing, rotating, moving...

    
    

    As for now, moving only dimension breaks the link and expands the dimension (hopefully will change, and break the link only).

    Moving an object with its related dimension currently expand the dimension as well (hopefully won’t do it either).

19. Batch Generation on Gen Ai (text-to-vector) Features

    Do you know something that would be cool?
    Some script only for testing purposes, or maybe this could be a feature.

    The script could generate all the 5 levels of Detail of Text-to-Vector
    (and/or all levels of any feature that have or will have intensity control)

    I mean generating 5 copies, each one with the one of the 5 levels of the detail. and keep the other settings as the same for all the generations.
    (the same for other gen ai features)

    I do this manually, but I will be very happy with a feature that does this for me.
    I know this will spend a lot of credits. But we can compare faster, instead do it manually.
    What do you think people? Is this possible?

    TL;DR
    We all know math is the basis of all good design work. (Critical for branding) I can't count the number of times I've messed up manual diagonal spacing. It's a sticking point for me, especially when working on deadline.

    Being able to set up a template of guidelines (in the same way that "workspaces" functions) could be beneficial for different types of jobs.

    Other things that would be nice:
    -Golden Ratio guideline (also Branding essential)
    -Colour of guidelines matching layer colour (much more helpful than getting an 80% gray or yellow bounding boxes)
    -I'm sure there are plenty of other kinds of guidelines that are critical to different fields.

    I realize we can all throw our custom guidelines onto a locked layer, but that's not the point. The traditional guidelines are second nature in our workflow. Maintaining that workflow is essential to integrating new features and enhancing the experience for us right?
