   There are two ways to do that.
   1. View > Outline mode
   2. Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display: Object Selection by Path Only
   Both of these will allow you to select anchors without accidentally moving an object

   I am told I am the only one ever to have this problem in adobe illustrator. But the tool " pointer " is sticking, I am unable to use it. The hand grab tool is on. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. I can't do projects or lessons unless it is fixed. It is important to me because I am in class to learn Illustrator and I cannot go any further unless it works. I have called adobe with no answer or person to talk to. I have spoken with my teachers and they told me to do this and call Adobe Enterprise to report and tell them I am affiliated with the school. Do you have a solution and can you help me asap so I can do my lessons? thank you

4. Tie a child shape to parent shape to keep it aligned to parent when resized

   Hi everyone,

   I posted this as a question in the Illustrator forum (here's the original thread https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/set-shapes-as-child-and-parent-objects-for-dynamic-box-designs/m-p/11688904?page=1#M256580) and was suggested to submit this as a feature request here.

   I design boxes in Illustrator for precise cutting in my Silhouette machine. The main problem I encounter with is when I make a box which its shapes are all perfectly aligned, but I then find that I need to tweak its interior size. When I'm doing so I have to re-align all the different pieces of the box shapes such as the spines, wings, etc, since there's no option to tie a shape to another shape as parent and child behavior which exists in 3d design programs.

   As a workaround I'm currently making groups of the shapes I want to be keep intact, and after tweaking the interior shape size I then re-align these groups to the edges of the interior they were previously aligned to.

   To describe it better I made 3 screenshots:

   • The first is the original design of the box.
   • The second is what happens when I resize the interior size of the front of the box, which makes it to overlap its child shapes.
   • The third is what I'm after - when resizing a parent shape I want all child shapes to move in distance along with it, without changing their sizes. As for the child shapes that become shorter and need to be resizes to fit to the parent's new size, that is done manually. Keep in mind that a child shape is also a parent shape of another child shape as seen in the screenshots. So if a child shape is resized then its own child shapes should also move in distance along with it.

   The arrows in the screenshots comes to describe what is a child object and what is a parent object. The base of each arrow is a child object and where it ends is its parent object.

   Having an option to make child and parent behavior would make things much easier when tweaking a design. Or, having a built-in engine to make box designs that has more features specifically for box design would be even better. That engine could automatically adjust the child shapes height/width where a parent shape size is changed. Or even a material thickness preset that calculates the extra size of material needed in mm/cm for the bending of each flap of the box, which is added between the shapes automatically like a "safe zone".

   There are external solution plugins for Illustrator like Esko, but I'd really like if Illustrator would have a built-in feature for box designs without paying for additional plugins. I'm still using my CS6 version since its a permanent license which I prefer better over subscription plans, and I am quite aware that if my feature is picked up for development then it would be implemented in the CC version and not CS6. Yet if that feature will be made then I'll re-consider the CC plans.

5. Similar to Flux Eyedropper Tool Plugin for Adobe InDesign

   A tool like Flux Eyedropper Tool for Illustrator would be a game change for faster workflow. I use this for Indesign it's a serious game changer.

   There are a couple of requests for improvements to SVG export, which is sorely needed. One important aspect of this is accessibility.

   SVG use is increasing, and accessibility requirements are being mandated in jurisdictions around the globe.

   There will be a growing need for people to produce accessible SVG files.

   This calls for supporting ARIA roles states and properties, and some way to indicate tabindex.

   A number of constraints can be imagined to prevent people doing the wrong thing (e.g. if you put tabindex=0 on a non-operable element), but the basic functionality is far more basic.

   Select object.
   Open aria palette.
   Add / edit / remove role (e.g. checkbox)
   Add / edit / remove state (e.g. aria-checked) and default value for that state.
   Add / edit / remove property (e.g. aria-label) and default value
   Checkbox for "focusable" (sets tabindex="0") if false, no tabindex attribute and the next checkbox is greyed-out).
   Checkbox for "programmatic" (sets tabindex="-1")
   Export SVG
   Result: Aria roles, states, properties and tabindex attributes present and correct in the corresponding SVG elements.

10. Make earlier versions available

    I need to have other, earlier, versions available. I have machines that run on 32 bit and I need an earlier version of illustrator to run.
    Please make earlier version available to those who need to keep our other machines running.

11. Ability to copy the name of a folder to other folders

    I name folders with the same name (ex-"PDF REVISED) to several different folders for several different jobs, but now I have to type out each name on each and every folder. Older versions of Illustrator had this function. Please bring it back.

12. Existing documents open to your preferred units, even if they were created in different units

    So I often work with people in different countries and we often have different unit preferences. I work in mm but when I open files from fellow creatives in America for example, they are often using inches.

    Now I thought that my preferences being set to mm would mean it would show the files in mm, but apparently this only applies to new documents you create, not to existing files. This seems so crazy to me given the digital, remote working, globally collaborative world we live in today.

    Please could this be a thing because going into the settings every 5 minutes to switch to mm over and over again is driving me crazy. I can't possibly be the only person having this problem??

    한국어 버전으로 작업을 할 때 언어가 한국어로 선택되어 있으면 단축키가 작동하지 않습니다. 다른 어도비 프로그램 중에는 한국어로도 단축키를 설정할 수 있는 것이 있습니다. 일러스트레이터도 한국어로 지정되어 있을 때도 단축키가 적용될 수 있길 부탁드립니다.

14. We need consistency between Adobe programs.

    When are we going to get consistency between Adobe programs?

    Some examples:

    • Resizing in Photoshop and Illustrator: one requires SHIFT to retain proportions, one doesn't

    • Clicking the Fill/Stroke colour in Photoshop and Illustrator: one requires double clicking, one doesn't

17. Global Edit in Isolation mode

    Global edit is very powerful but not a fully realized feature.
    Many things are missing from it (like this one: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/35768314-create-symbols-from-global-edit)

    Another one is that the Global Edit button is completely missing when you are in isolation mode. So instead of entering a group and editing similar objects only in this particular group, we are forced to lock similar objects manually (because GE won’t allow to do it), EXIT the isolation mode, start GE and edit found similar-s with everything else NOT isolated (which obstructs editing).

    Let me provide a practical example I am working on. I have several similar staircases. One of them, while being generally the same, has a different step height. I want to isolate this particular staircase (to not interfere with another art in the same layer) and edit only this object’s steps. But Ai forces me to A) lock other staircases, B) lock underlying art. This is very limiting.

    BTW, if you have found all you similar-s and want to lock all other objects, except these that you found, — what would you do? Select > Inverse >Lock Selected? Nope, it won’t work, Inverse don’t treat found as selected. Not sure it must, but I can’t see a fast way anyway.

18. ArcGIS plugin for 2021 and 2022 (Macs)

    Adobe CC doesn't allow installing Illustrator versions prior to 25.4 and this plugin requires 24.0 to run. Latest update removed my prior version and I can't recover it. This plugin is critical for my day to day work. Please upgrade the plugin on Macs as soon as possible! Thank you.

19. Return showing thumbnail file previews on Windows in Explorer

    Please add thumbnail file previews to Windows as we have with Adobe Reader. It's not fair that Mac users have this and Windows users don't While you're doing that please add them to PSD files as well.
