Rotation of the Artboard
Like in Photoshop it would be great if an Artist could rotate the artboard/canvas in Illustrator. If you draw a line from left to right it's never the same stroke as from up to down.

Hi friends! I have some great news for your today. Rotate View (Canvas) feature is available in Illustrator 25.3 (Desktop) now. Thank you all for your feedback which helped us shape up this feature.

Yep, Andrew, this is exactly what I am seeing.
It’s just you explained what the problem is, while @Mattnymous just went with 'not very well', which can mean anything, including anything else we both fail to see, blinded by this obvious problem. That’s why I asked them specifically to elaborate. The one you point out is surely a problem, and the developers are aware. Thank you though!(Edited by admin) -

@Egor scroll down four comments. zooming with the scroll wheel is relative to the original rotation no matter how you have the view rotated. it's even more annoying than not being able to rotate the view at all, which seems par for the course

Mattnymous, could you define 'not really well'? No sarcasm intended (I have several claims of my own), just to understand what bothers you. Let’s compare impressions.

Yes the feature exists, but it doesnt work very well, did anyone actually try using it at Adobe after it was created?

I don't think you are Jonas, a lot of this is still very meh.
Bugs me like crazy that like you and Andrew posted, things are oriented towards the original orientation which is just plain silly. As a packaging designer its nice that I can check text without straining my neck but aside from that, it feels very unfinished and I find myself not using it much because of it. The zooming/shifting/moving bit is just way too irritating.

Love the feature that you finally can rotate the view in Illustrator. However – after rotating the view, for example 90 degrees, the arrow keys are not adjusted to fit this particular view. When I hit the up arrow key, things move to the right instead and so on. Same with ruler guides, try to make a horizontal guide and it makes a vertical one. Why isn't it like in Indesign where when you for example move something to the left, you hit the left arrow key, regardless of what angle you are viewing? Or am I missing something here?

This is half-working. You can rotate the view, which is great, but now zooming using Alt + Scroll Wheel zooms relative to the un-rotated canvas, so it's less great. Any fix? Windows 10, CC 25.4.1

I've turned this off but my canvas is now stuck at 5 degrees, EUGH how irritating!

Maybe try restarting creative cloud app? It should be listed under updates.

25.4 has an option to disable Trackpad Gestures. Do you have this version?

I scrolled down but the only thing I see is "trackpad gesture to rotate view".
I don't have that anywhere in my preferences.

SCROLL DOWN. There's an option to turn off. Everything will be okay.

CAN YOU PLEASE ADD AN OPTION TO TURN THIS OFF.
I am constantly hitting it with my Wacom board. I see a lot of other people are having the same issue. I have no need for an Artboard rotation and it is extremely frustrating when it does it on its own.

Thanks Simon for sharing. Some of you had reported that it's too sensitive and you are rotating accidentally. The latest release 25.4 has an option to disable Trackpad Gestures. We will work towards refining the threshold but for now please use the option to disable it if it's coming in your way.
Preferences > General: deselect "Trackpad Gesture to Rotate View".

Latest version resolves this. Update to 25.4 and in Prefs > General, deselect "Trackpad Gesture to Rotate View".

Please can you offer a way to lock the rotation. It's a great function IF you need it. But I don't, I only use ai on my laptop and can't seem to make it through simple tasks without accidentally rotating. Rotation is too close to zoom on trackpad. Please can you add a lock artboard function.

Scarlett, actually yes everyone does want this. Real simple, don't click the rotate tool. Problem solved.
