Rotation of the Canvas
Like in Photoshop it would be great if an Artist could rotate the artboard/canvas in Illustrator. If you draw a line from left to right it's never the same stroke as from up to down.
Hi friends! I have some great news for your today. Rotate View (Canvas) feature is available in Illustrator 25.3 (Desktop) now. Thank you all for your feedback which helped us shape up this feature.

***** it. I'm switching to Affinity Designer as we speak. Adobe hasn't responded in 3 years. We hear you Adobe. **** YOU TOO.

I wonder how many users (like me!) have now dropped Illustrator and are using Affinity over this and other issues? Not just the fact that the change hasn't been implemented, but NO RESPONSE from Adobe in over two years. I'm down to a Photoshop-only subscription, and if they raise the price there I'll drop that one too. Great work, Adobe!

Pretty bad that this core feature hasn't received traction by Adobe in 10 years:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/677840I am glad I invested in Affinity's products. Adobe doesn't seem to really listen to their bread & butter everyday customers.

Guys, no thanks to adobe there is a nice alternative solution.

This feature is so basic! please Adobe, you can do better than this.

Still, having numerical control over artboard rotation would be nice.

There is a scripting-solution from Alex Ladygin:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2519941
It's not perfect and is slow with lots of objects but works.
I worked on a solution myself two years ago but didn't solve the problem of objects out of the artboard rotate correctly. It's such an important feature that it should be implemented nevertheless! The whole packaging-industry needs this feature desperately.
In the Artboard-Options, there would be a logic place for another Icon. (Screenshot)
And of course for those who make digital art and Icon like in Photoshop. It was already said in this forum.
And this feature needs a simple order for Extended Scripting of course. for example: rotateArtboard(active or not, deree, true or false - mean 0 or 1 for rotating with objects) possible with an array of all artboards:
rotateArtboard(1,90,1);
rotateArtboards[0]; -

Is this a super difficult function to execute the coding for? I'm trying to figure out why it hasn't been implemented long ago and the only thing I can come up with is that it must be super hard to put into the coding. Anyway, I would love to see this happen. I am forever drawing in Illustrator and having to do gymnastics to draw certain angles and curves. Thanks.

I agree on so many levels. I am equally aggravated that they keep changing things that are NOT broken. Keyboard commands that I’ve had to learn over and over and they are way less intuitive now. As you say, who comes up with this and do they ask any of us using AI 10 hours a day. (Since 1991 in my case). A year or 2 ago I got a big survey from Adobe all about Social Justice Issues and I told them to just make great software leave that to others but I don’t think they care or listen because the software continues to suffer.

Thanks for your support guys ... I feel less alone in front of Adobe's lack of consideration for customers. I must admit that my comment was pretty sarcastic, but when you ask for decade for a product to be functional, and nothing happens, you must find a way to pull the seller from his sleep ... Moreover my comment has not been as harsh as it could had been ... I did not mention the other incredible shortcomings of this software, like - for example - the fact that we can not freely deform an object as it is done with great ease in Photoshop via the command "free transform" ... there is no equivalent function on Illustrator (one has 3 or 4 tools that can not even do as well than the tool available in photoshop! ) And dealing with these tools is unbearable because (when you don't have to work in a tiny popup) the frame and the handles are reset each time one of them moves. OK the distorsion occurs, BUT we have no real control over the distortion to make it match with another perspective object. Of course we can work around the problem using the perspective grid but it's a longer process and not very intuitive, and boring if you have just one element to deal with. I'm fed up to get around problems while a developer could implement this function in in half a day! And the software is at version 23! Hence my very relevant question: has Adobe already had this software tested by real graphic designers?

I'm shocked that Adobe has time to censor USEFUL comments like the one that got sent out to us (LOL) but no time to even respond to a reasonable and important feature request in almost two years. They must be really confident that we can't break out of their ecosystem and we're on the hook month after month. Are we though..?

Well put Clayton
Apart from the censoring there hasn't been any indication Adobe staff are watching this thread at all.
I think they could minimise the user frustration so obvious here, if they engaged and fed back with updates or even to let us know if the idea has been canned.
Knowing either something or nothing is happening means we can all move on.
Adobe - is anybody home? -

To the Adobe Support staff who decided to censor the post in question below: Maybe you forgot or weren't aware that every subscriber to this tread received the censored post in its full ****** glory via direct mail, making the censoring action partially useless, while telling LOADS about the overall BAD attitude of Adobe towards its customers. ****, why bother contributing with ideas and criticism? REMEMBER THE SUGGESTIONS GIVEN HERE ARE FREE OF CHARGE! REMEMBER USERS NOW PAY YOU ON A PERIODIC BASIS! You should be thanking the people who go out of their way to post here. This whole episode is VERRRYYY disappointing.
