Be able to copy link name like Indesign to find missing links.
Be able to copy link name like Indesign to find missing links. Have to manually type names with lots of number codes for missing links from others, would be much easier to be able to copy the name llike Indesign.
The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
The team intends to add another command into this menu, allowing to copy the path. That’s it.
This request crucially lacks feedback from all the voters. Please comment back: do it if you don’t like how it works, and do it if you do.

I have wanted this for years!

Not happy with the solution.
At one hand, InDesign’s solution really looks similar...
...but there are some key differences.
InDesign allows right-click.
I can click the link item in the panel or anywhere in the Link Info section...
Illustrator still believes in a world where mice have one button. We don''t have menus ANYWHERE.
Sure, InD does not allow to copy only the name, but full path...
...but Ai does not allow to copy one if necessary! You made the menu, but added only one option there!
Any menu or dropdown with only ONE item in it is a UX failure. No 'it's a template for future addition', please — make it a menu when you have more additions. Then Ai allows us to click the path of a link with left click to open the location.
Why there is nothing similar for the name, along with the menu, with more options?Plus — why can’t we copy a missing link’s name directly from the dialog, like we asked in this request?
Sure, one can click Replace and copy if from the Replace dialog’s File Name field... or OCR this text with a third-party tool (if allowed to have one)...Nowadays embedding a link kills the original name, replacing it with the name of the layer.
There was request to be able to rename embedded links, and to grab their names to find the original... what about this?I think you can do better than this.
To allow copying name, path, or full path with the name — for one or several selected or all links.
To allow to copy info as a whole or individually.
To allow right-click, here and in other places like Layers panel.
To allow to rename embedded links.
To allow to rename linked files, without a long workaround: 1) rename file, 2) have Ai scream at you, 3) locate the file in a separate dialog.
Why can’t we relink with a drag-n-drop from Explorer/Finder by holding some Alt/Opt key, directly into an item on canvas or into the panel’s item?
Why do you do the LEAST effort? :( -

Example: InDesign document: When relinking the name appears so I can copy, paste the missing link in the search eld and quickly find the image and where it is located. InDesign also alerts and updates when it finds other missing links in the same folder.

Before, If there is a missing link, I can right-click and copy the name of that missing file name, paste it into the search box to relink it. (sometime, the search box could be on the internet or Dropbox, GoogleDrive, etc.,) so it is important to be able to copy the name of the file. now this feature was blocked.

@Kelly Bruce: if only I could install something like that. The company won't even let us go to the app store to browse...

I found a workaround using the 'Capture Text' app inside SetApp

A QoL improvement for the Links panel (along with other less feature-rich panels) would be HUGE right now.
We work off cloud storage, so when shared projects are passed around, the relative links always change paths. Being able to right click on the file name in the Link Info section to add it to the clipboard (for example) would be a bare minimum start to help folks search for assets locally/online.
Come on Illustrator team, this one isn't super tough; just pass that string to memory so we can paste it elsewhere. Help us applaud your releases again, add this task to your kanbans, assign it to your success-hungry interns.
Looking forward to seeing this feature before your 27.0 release!

For missing links, if I can copy from the window which is appearing while it shows as missing link, will be easy to copy that same file to find it.

Agree! Would love to be able to copy link name. Our file names are huge and are hard to find when missing.

One should be able to copy the link name somehow. Or else, the existing filename of an embedded image should be used when unembedding files. WTH is "ai image"??????????????
