I just updated to v28.6 and I don't see this dialog box when replacing files. I agree with many of the comments that say just put back what was there before. It worked very well. What was broken that needed fixing? Is there a Hippocratic Oath for coders? First do no harm...

It's been a couple of weeks since the promised return of our "Replace All" checkbox for links. Can you not just put back the code that was there for years?

The fix is not that usable when replacing multiple files. Please place back the "Apply to All". Also it appears to have more steps involved.

Not having a quick way to "Apply All" adds much more time to my work flows and the team I work with. When replacing files on a page layout with lets say for instance 70 pieces of artwork for printing this is an issue. The fix above without a w replace all is adding more steps and more time. Also it will not be as fast. Adobe, please do not change what does not need fixing unless it would improve workflow. The "Apply to All" is something I, and my team were using every day (multiple times a day) for updating files and replacing images on templates for repeat Customers and new Customers when they have updated artwork. We do not want to add time for our Customers. Also we do not want to explain to our Supervisors and Sales Team why files are taking more time to process. I enjoy working in Adobe programs & would like to continue to work in Adobe programs.

InDesign has a dedicated 'Relink to Folder' menu command — which basically works as 'Replace + Search ... in This Folder', but doesn’t require to have links missing!

Then, we might need to replace selected images (linked or not) with ONE another chosen link (this is exactly what users are crying about now) — but without using the mentioned 'delete to trigger the dialog' workaround (it IS a workaround).

Why not giving dedicated menu commands for all of those, along with the redesigning 'missing' dialog?

Relink
Relink Selected
Relink to Folder
Relink File Extension
Relink from CC Libraries
Relink Selected from CC Libraries
Notice how it says 'Libraries' (like the panel is called and how InDesign spells it), and not 'Library'.
Notice Libraries are shoved into the bottom, because local is more important than cloud (and always will be), and that’s how InDesign handles it.

Yes, that change would be sufficient. Still don't know why you took away the old way of doing it. Adobe seems to make frequent changes to stuff that actually works and that we actually use, while adding many new features nobody cares about.

Adam, this one is a pretty recent change... They had the option at some point, but then dropped, because were not aware of the 'replace with one image' trick we started to use it for. The problem with the actual mass relinking to existing links was an old one, true, but this particular report is not about it.

And it IS going to be redeemed, as I am aware, soon enough. Fingers crossed.

complaint for over a decade. They keep saying they’re gonna do something about it but we keep waiting. I wouldn’t hold your breath about this actually getting fixed anytime soon.
