Make it easier to find the handles needed to move text around a circular shape.
It's so tough to find just the right place to hover in order to get the handle you need to drag the start/end points of text when placing it on a path, especially a round one. Seems like there's an easier way (maybe holding down a particular key while you click the anchor?)

allow the editing/removal of the "Touch Calligraphic Brush"
Concise problem statement:
An uneditable, undeletable “Touch Calligraphic Brush” appears at the top of the Brush palette for every single document, including ones that predate touch devices. On my Macbook Air, which is not a touch device, with files that have never been loaded on a touch device.
Steps to reproduce bug:
- Start Illustrator on a computer with no touchscreen.
- Load a file or create a new one.
- Try to edit the “Touch Calligraphic Brush”.
- Try to delete the “Touch Calligraphic Brush”.
Results:
The Touch Calligraphic Brush stays there at the top of your brushes palette. It refuses to move. Refuses to let you change its settings. It mocks you every time you look at the brush palette, an unasked-for, unwanted squatter in the middle of your tools, like a toad that’s plopped itself down in the middle of your pencil box. It’s polite, as toads go. It doesn’t demand you feed it flies, it doesn’t excrete all over a work in progress and ruin it, it doesn’t even croak. But it’s always there right in the middle of where your tools are. And sometimes you put your hand on it when you reach for a pencil without really looking, and it’s all clammy, and gross, and why is this toad in the middle of my pencil box, taking up space I could keep drawing tools instead? When you call the people who make the pencil box, they tell you that, oh, yes, the toad has to be there for the benefit of people working in the exciting new medium of toad secretions, so that when they try to use a toad to draw with, there’s always a toad there, and this just leaves you (as an artist working in the medium of pen and ink) rather baffled as to why this means everyone has to have a toad in their pencil case now.
I mean, also sometimes the pencil box summons this five inch tall giraffe made of fire who burns your drawing up, and that’s something both you and the people who made this magical pencil box are more concerned with, but still. I just keep on putting my hand on this toad sometimes, and it’s just moderately annoying on a constant low level.
Expected results:
The Touch Calligraphic Brush acknowledges that its presence may be unnecessary or unwanted for some people, and lets you edit and delete it.
Or even better, perhaps the Touch Calligraphic Brush never even appears if you’re not on a touch device.

Keyboard shortcut to select next anchor point along path (incl shift+ to select more than one)
Implement keyboard shortcuts to select the next anchor point along a path. So if I have selected one anchor point, I can hit that shortcut, and I will have moved to the next anchor point along the path.
Also include the option to shift+{shortcut} to select more than one anchor point.

Make a way to call the Color Picker dialog for change color of a gradient stop
The gradient tool is not very intuitive, and the color selection interface has a limited range, making it difficult to accurately pick the desired colors. Usually, I can only use color codes to specify them. I think there is a lot of room for improvements.

Repeat Grid ignores Use Preview Bounds option
When we try to use Repeat function, the measurements are off when the object has stroke. When we align multiple objects in a grid like manner without using Repeat, Illustrator uses the bounds of the object without taking its stroke into consideration. But when using the grid tool, if the object has stroke, it adds the distance of the stroke to the measure and affects the final result.

Pull multiple images from folder one at a time, image trace/expand and store in 2nd folder, in 2 different formats
Can you make it so that an Action in Illustrator will pull batch images (probably one at a time to avoid processor overload) into Illustrator from a specified folder, apply image trace, apply expand, then save to a second folder in two different formats (EPS/jpg).
And PLEASE keep the settings for Image Trace (mode, etc) the same for each imported image, instead of returning to default.

Smart Guides: prioritize artboards, respect logical hierarchy
This situation has been frustrating for many, many years:
I'm zoomed out to a level that makes it tricky for AI to understand what I want Smart Guides to snap to.
There are many elements in my doc that could be desired for that snapping, but they are a mix of paths, compound paths, placed media, and artboards. Many of these things are FAR away from the elements I'm trying to snap.
AI either doesn't have any perceived hierarchy or it prioritizes snapping in an obscure way, and it will attempt to snap to those far away things instead of A) things nearby, or B) art boards, which are objectively the most important/obvious thing to be snapping to (that is, if it's a 50/50 choice).
The desired behavior (IMO) would be for AI to choose snapping based on clear criteria, such as:
- Closest artboard corner
- Closest artboard edge
- Closest group or compound path
- Closest element inside a group or compound path
- Closest placed media
...etcetera. The above is just a "for instance," but you get the logic — when in doubt, choose the highest thing in the hierarchy, and that hierarchy starts with artboards since those are much more substantial than floating elements and because most designers align things to those more than they do other elements.

Performance... GPU Performance - Second Check Box - CPU Default
Mac GPU still does not work correctly all the time. Until it does, there should be a Second Check box for GPU Performance.
there are times that the GPU is better, but most of the time it's completely glitchy. Until that's fixed we should have a CHECK BOX for DEFAULT to CPU.
Currently GPU Checked forces it to be on first. If uncheck you can not switch it without going into preferences.
It's a little thing but until this can be fixed, this is a better workflow... it might be good to keep even after it's fixed too.

Better support when Expanding shapes that have a Mask like "Draw Inside"
Normally when creating a clean vector logo the process involves expanding appearance and cleaning up the shape, but if the Draw Inside or a Mask is used the result may look verry different from the original shape. No warning that the appearance is altered is given.
Workaround is to export the part of the illustration that contains "Draw Inside" objects as a PDF, I would use Asset Export Panel. Plaxe the asset and then Expand. This is a work around, and requires the asset to appear at the exact same spot.
A video explaining the work around https://youtu.be/ziTS7VYdacQ

Panel Calculator for Illustrator
Panel Calculator for Illustrator
Hello
My calculator panel idea in illustrator is shown in the attached picture
Approximately, as I see it and based on the tasks that I solve in illustrator.
It would also be nice if the Calculator and Transform panels work together. The principle is shown. Perhaps even understandable. An active window in one is an active window in the other...In general, a calculator is a useful thing and it would fit well into the adobe system.
It would also be nice if the Calculator panel could interact with other panels with which this is possible. For example, with the new Measurements panel.
And it would be thoughtful and logical.Perhaps someone will also be interested in this and support the idea.
Thanks to all the developers and designers who are constantly making improvements and new features. So that we users can work comfortably in the software.
It's not easy and a lot of hard work behind it all.Thank you for your attention.

Give us true list view for exporting artboards
I would like an actual list view where artboards are in a list, show native dimensions, and any other meta that makes sense. Current multi column view truncates text and thumbnail size can't be scaled.

Swatches panel easier cleanup/delete and Recolor Artwork tool
Have delete options for swatch library in drop down or drag/drop to trash.
Enable delete option in user defined menu to clean up old/saved swatches no longer needed and organize alphabetically or enable us to drag/drop folder within panels for easier regrouping.
Also allow swatches folders to drag/drop to other open windows/working open files.
Allow us to customize our main Swatch panel without having to delete the AI standard swatches every time (but not delete them either just customize or minimize/hide the preset colors).
Recolor tool: enable a way to select a recolor option (or tag multiple options during scrolling) without losing your place or having to restart/re-do the turning on and off of selected colors bars each time. Maybe be able to checkmark image options that it stores in side panel so you're able to go through the whole recolor options without start/stop/reopen/redo etc... then be able to work off your new/saved options. And PLEASE add a go back button to recolor.
A lot of time is wasted in both issues. It's cluttering up my workspace and not user friendly to clean out my swatches and organize as needed.
Recolor tool is a great function but slows down in the usage as to have to save a new image, you lose the original and to get back to continuing you have to restart the whole process, especially when choosing to not recolor some colors... having to redo all that is time consuming. Adding a 'back' button will also help all of us who click too fast and skip over a great color option and frustrated to not be able to go back. Also don't freeze the screen when recolor panel opens. Sometimes you need to zoom in to see colors better or movie images around and not being able to have access to moving anything makes one have to start all over, or take extra time making sure your screen is the ideal size/layout before starting recolor. Or make the recolor a large window which puts the image inside the window for easier access to zoom, scroll and interact with image.
When you open recolor and use the magnifier to see where each color is located, I can't find a way to get out of that mode, unless I hit the recolor scroll which rearranges my color options. Make it so unclicking pops you back out to where you were wo changing image.
When reducing colors in Recolor window (as used in patterns often) it'd be nice for it to update the number of colors live. Currently we have to keep track in our minds, accept and close the window. Reselect image and reopen recolor to know how many colors we are now at. A live updated number would be great or an easier method than having to reselect/reopen just to see the new number. Or perhaps, add a numerical value to the sidebar swatch panel on the side of the recolor window, to show the live change in number of colors during combining/reducing of colors.

Optional thousand separator for graphs in y-axis
Graphs in Illustrator are really useful, however, after copy-pasting data from Excel, the y-axis values all come out without thousand separators, like $1000000 - I then manually add thousand separators so that the value reads $1,000,000 - it would be great if in right-click > Graph Type > Value Axis, there was a check-box that read "Enable Thousand Separators". Easy :)

Custom Icons to Simplify Size Identification and Improve Efficiency
I work with various sizes occasionally, if not always, and it's really challenging to identify the sizes I use because all the icons have a similar appearance. To make it simpler to find the right size, it would be nice if we had more custom icons in this section. Humans read easier and faster through images.

Export Oversampling
Problem:
- Often when exporting from AI at 1x scale the anti-aliasing quality is not optimal.
- My current workaround is to export at a larger size and downsample in PS. I typically require 1x and 2x sizes, so I will export at 4x and then choose a resampling algorithm based on the artwork.Goal:
- Imrpove the image quality of exported images from AIProposed Solution:
- Add ‘Oversampling’ as a per-scale export option, this could be done with the following parameters:
- Oversampling [toggle] : on, off
- Quality [combo] : 2x, 4x, 8x, etc.
- Resample Mode [combo] : Bilinear, Bicubic, Bicubic Sharper, etc.I’ve attached a very simple example; a 1x export (png24, AA Mode: Type), followed by the same image exported @4x and downsampled in PS to 1x using Bilinear, and Bicubic algorithms.
