  1. Limit "Preserve Editing Capabilities"-data to Exported Artboards Only

    When exporting multiple artboards as PDFs via the Asset Export panel in Illustrator, and using a PDF preset that has "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities" enabled, Illustrator embeds the entire AI document, including all artboards and hidden content, into every exported PDF.

    This results in:

    • Unnecessarily large PDF file sizes.

    • Hidden or irrelevant Illustrator data being included in every PDF.

    • Workflow and file integrity issues, especially when sharing isolated assets.

    Feature request:
    Please add a checkbox or setting to limit the embedded Illustrator data to only the selected artboard(s) being exported — not the entire document — while still preserving editability…

  2. Allow to change the color of a 3D material without editing it in Substance

    Die Änderung der Materialfarben für die 3D-Darstellung in Illustrator funktioniert nicht - insbesondere die Farbänderung ist nicht möglich. Hier muss mann immer umständlich neue Farben in Substance anlegen :/

    Changing the material colors for the 3D rendering in Illustrator doesn't work—especially changing the color isn't possible. You always have to laboriously create new colors in Substance :/

  3. Perpendicular Line Tool to Path

    When I draw a line at any angle with the pen tool, I want to be able to draw a new line exactly perpendicular to that line. The name of the feature I want is "Perpendicular Line Tool". A tool that will ensure that the second line I draw is perpendicular to the first line when I draw a line in any direction, and will find and show me the 90 degree angle to each other. Please add, this should be a default feature in Adobe.

  4. SDK access to Perspective grid

    Please add SDK interface for plugins to get and set values in the perspective grid, and to add and move art on the perspective grid. I want to extend the functionality of the perspective grid for technical illustrators.

  5. Request to Remove or Hide the "Home" Icon in Illustrator Interface

    The "Home" icon in the top-left corner of the Illustrator interface is intrusive and unnecessary for daily workflow. Its placement directly interferes with accessing the "File" dropdown menu, as accidental clicks on the Home icon can disrupt the creative process by taking users out of their active project.

    The Home screen can already be disabled in Preferences, making the icon itself redundant. For advanced users who rely on speed and efficiency, the presence of this icon adds no real value and only introduces the risk of misclicks.

    Please consider providing an option to hide or disable the Home icon entirely…

  7. Adobe fonts searching on top of the font list > easier entry

    Adobe fonts browsing on top of the font list. Instead of scrolling down the (large) loaded fonts list, I would suggest searching Adobe fonts on top of the font list or a dedicated search entry.

  8. Please please please repair the Template system

    Saving my own Template is still a pain, since the folder where those are stored needs extra privileges, which can't be given from within the Save Template dialog.
    Please, rework this Template save / load system, and make it fail proof and rock solid.

    This is how it should work in 2025:
    -Save Template.
    -Give Name
    -Done

  9. Add Axis Constraints, to restrict transformations to a chosen axis

    Some 3D editors allow to limit moving to a chosen axis/axes.
    3DS Max has a dedicated floating panel with buttons, and Blender allows to hold a key to force it: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/scene_layout/object/editing/transform/control/axis_locking.html

    In Ai we can hold Shift, but the axis chosen depends on the position of the cursor, and it’s not the same.
    Please make it possible to use X/Y keys (similar to the recent E key for Enclosed selection Mode) to actually choose a preferred axis. Perhaps Z can be used for 45°? :)

  11. Reduce Quality on file opening

    I would like to have an option when illustrator detects me opening large and complicated files that my computer might struggle with running. This option would automatically simplify paths and decrease or outright eliminate gradients, as well as doing stuff to decrease the intensity of effects on the system.

    This would be extremely helpful with taking care of files that people send into my company where they just go all out in complexity. For example, I had someone send in a file that had over 150k anchor points for 18 paths in a 9mm x 9mm artboard. This would be…

  12. Bulk add graphics to library

    Selecting multiple groups of objects and adding to a library adds them all as one giant graphic. Can't we have them added separately? Years of life have been lost adding one graphic at a time to a library.

  13. QuickLook Preview Support for EPS Files on macOS via Adobe own framework

    As of macOS 15 (Sequoia), Apple has officially removed all system-level support for rendering Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files in QuickLook. This change began in macOS 12 (Monterey), when Apple deprecated the internal PostScript conversion frameworks (notably PSNormalizer.framework), and culminated in macOS 14 (Sonoma) and 15 (Sequoia), where these frameworks were entirely removed.

    Historically, Finder’s QuickLook preview for .eps files relied on these system frameworks to convert PostScript content into a previewable image. Many third-party applications (including Illustrator) used the same system calls to provide file previews.   14. Please allow the width of the Info Panel to be adjustable.

    I believe users around the world would prefer to keep palettes as compact as possible in order to maximize the display area for their artwork.
    However, the "Info Palette," which is frequently referenced, is too wide, and when docked, it dictates the overall width of the palette area.
    I would greatly appreciate it if the Info Palette could be made more compact—perhaps by allowing a vertical layout or similar adjustments.

  15. Editable text in dimensions

    Please let designer edit the text inside the dimensions. Sometimes for mockup purpose is not possible to set a proper scale and if you place a dimension obviously the size has to be changed. Now you need to expand the aspect to let the text be editable. It would be great if the text can be editable by default.
    There is no worries for people with right scales since the value will be correct, but it will be a smart edit for others who have to change it.

  16. Motor de texto vertical

    I would like it to be possible to edit the text in vertical format, I explain.

    I have a text in horizontal format which I can modify in every possible way, but I am working on a project that uses a custom typography and requires vertical writing, the problem is that when changing to vertical format the writing direction changes from right to left.

    the idea is that the reader can read from top to bottom, but in the same direction from left to right.

    i have looked for a way to change the orientation of the vertical writing direction…

  17. Please add a way for the Pencil tool to display the edge of the drawn line when needed with Live Feedback enabled

    If we enable Live Preview but have no stroke or fill chosen, drawing on canvas shows nothing. Very useful.
    What if in this case you make the edge line visible instead, the one we see when we disable Live Preview? 'Graceful degradation' in a sense — take a look at the GIF attached.
    It’s even more complicated than this. Imaging white stroke on white canvas :) Formally it’s a color, but practically...
    Having an option to have edge always visible can help, but it’d be another option...
    Anyway, please do something.

  18. Allow Illustrator documents to re-link to its shared-for-review Creative Cloud document if the link becomes broken

    Sometimes a document that's been shared for review through the Creative Cloud will lose its connection to the local file. Sometimes because you've tried to create a new iteration, renamed the file, or sometimes it just happens for unknown reasons. When this occurs, it would be helpful to be able to reconnect them so that the review process continues with the same link to the end of the project. This would keep the entire history of markups and not cause confusion by sending out a new link in which they cannot access the resolved markups when reviewing the updates. Yes,…

  19. I would love to see a "temporary canvas" or "temporary file" feature added to illustrator

    I often find myself creating temporary documents that I end up deleting after doing whatever I need to do in Illustrator before bringing over to InDesign or some other application. It'd be so nice to start a "Quick Canvas" or something that has the full functionality of Illustrator, but it instead acts as a notepad that can either auto-save to the cloud or just delete itself after using.

  20. Toggling left click mode

    Can we have a toggle feature that controls left-click on and off by just clicking once for activation and once again for deactivation? I think it would be a cool idea to add this as an option because it would allow a default trackpad to be a more accessible tool for longer drawing projects (ie. blob brush work) without exhausting your fingers. Makes the overall program more accessible, too. I would rather be clicking once than holding and dragging my finger on the trackpad. I got the idea from video games that have toggle buttons for lots of monotonous tasks.
