While using the Brush Tool in Adobe Illustrator, it would be very useful to have a keyboard shortcut that allows rotating the brush dynamica
While using the Brush Tool in Adobe Illustrator, it would be very useful to have a keyboard shortcut that allows rotating the brush dynamically while drawing.
This functionality would be especially valuable for calligraphy and expressive brushwork, where stroke angle and brush orientation are key to achieving natural, fluid results. Currently, adjusting brush angle requires manual edits, which interrupts the creative flow.
A shortcut-based rotation feature would make calligraphic and artistic drawing much smoother, more intuitive, and closer to the real-world brush/pen experience.

Swatches do not work in Control panel.
Colours of selected object change to default white fill and black stroke when trying to change the fill or stroke colour in Swatches in control panel. This happens when first touched the arrow of the swatch in control panel, after that the colour can be picked, but the object already gets recoloured to White and Black. Mac - AI 29.8.1

Ruler & Grids, Guides, Snap options as separate panel
There are already UI elements for changing these settings, but they're only available in the properties panel with the selection tool selected and no object selection – which is very inconvenient.
Make them a separate panel instead.

Show a progress bar for 'export for screens' when it's taking a little while
Maybe it's just me making absolutely pathological files (7k paths that expand to 72k paths and 6k images) but sometimes 'export for screens' can take a while. And I just wanna close the file and get on with my life but I can't until it's done, and I'd like to know how long it's gonna take.
Maybe pop up a progress bar at the top of the screen along with the "this is saving in the background and will close when it's done" grey box? Or maybe just, well, pop up a traditional window with a progress bar that's not…

PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object, not two separate objects
PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object. Currently Illustrator parses such shapes as two objects: fill, stroke. This behaviour can be seen when exporting as PDF in Illustrator (without AI editing capabilities) and importing it again.
Note: This seems to be caused by incorrect handling of B and B* PDF operators (fill + stroke in one object).

Add a Delayed Render toggle and Render button to reduce re-renders
Performance suggestion: as a panel, every adjustment causes the object to re-render, so fine-tuning the settings takes a long time. Maybe put a Render button on bottom with an on/off toggle switch labeled something like Delayed Render. Kind of like how Excel does it with Pivot Table updates.

Develop offline version without subscription
It is extremely morally bankrupt to have no options for purchasing adobe products without a subscription and in keeping everyone on the subscription model you are limiting the applications to essential online use. Keep the subscriptions and develop online versions for that level of product and allow customers to actually purchase the software that costs them ridiculously large amounts of money. It's extremely unprofessional to require all of your users to have an internet connection while other professional software exists that is out performing you in every way and I can actually just purchase the software. It is really the…

Illustrator should respect path direction when creating a compound path
When creating a Compound Path from a selection, Illustrator does some things to the path directions to make it work for simple situations. But for more advanced artwork, the user should be able to set the path direction (by drawing, scripting or invoking the reverse path direction function) before applying the Make Compound Path command. This command should then not change any path direction, but apply the fill according to the path direction scheme.
We can correct path direction of compound paths in the Attributes panel, but for complex situations (e.g. hundreds of concentric circles) this feels rather stupid.
Please…

Please Return to PATH OFFSET IN OBJECT menu (from Path submenu) with custom commands
I'd like to have the "Offset Path" command back in the OBJECT > PATH section, with the option to assign a custom command via "Keyboard Shortcuts" as before the last Illustrator update.
I need to actually see and obtain the path, not through a visual effect.Problem:
In the drop-down menu in OBJECT > PATH, the OFFSET PATH and TRACE OUTLINE options are there and work, BUT THEY ARE NOT PRESENT in the shortcut database, so a custom command cannot be added.I use paths in all their features, so I absolutely needs to have the right commands for productivity…

Control which tool is activated by the eraser end of my stylus
I do all my work with a drawing stylus and have never found the native Eraser tool to be useful. Instead I use Astute's Opacity Brush, which lets you quickly paint opacity masks for the selected objects.
I'd love to be able to access it by flipping my stylus over and eraser-clicking, but that only gets the Eraser tool.
Before the Opacity Brush came up I've had other thoughts for this - how about assigning the eraser end of the stylus to your favorite selection tool instead of constantly hitting hotkeys to switch to and from it, for instance?

Scale Strokes Only
When Scaling numerically, the have choice whether to scale Strokes (and) effects as well.
What I am looking for, is a way to scale stroke widths, without scaling the objects. In that way, it is easy to change several stroke widths, while keeping the ratio between the stroke widths. (I know the work around, to scale back the objects without scaling the strokes - but that comes with some risks and limitations)

Eyedropper tool breaks Chinese/English mixed text after recent update
Title: Eyedropper tool breaks Chinese/English mixed text after recent update
Description:
In previous versions of Illustrator, when working with sentences containing both English and Chinese text, the Eyedropper tool worked correctly:If I applied a new font with Eyedropper, only the English letters would switch to the sampled font.
The Chinese characters would remain in their original font, preventing missing glyphs or “tofu” boxes.
After the recent update, this behavior has changed:
When I select the entire sentence and use Eyedropper, Illustrator now forces the entire string (including Chinese) into the sampled font.
Since the sampled font usually does not…

Make the Illustrator Home Screen Responsive
Problem:
Right now, the Home screen is center-justified and fixed-width. On wide monitors, this creates huge blank space between the left sidebar and the file previews. Even worse, recent projects are hidden off-screen until the app window is stretched far enough. They don’t wrap, resize, or scroll, they just vanish. Why this sucks:
Users with wide displays waste massive amounts of screen real estate.
Important files appear to be “missing” unless you manually widen the window.
The layout looks like an old webpage centered in a box, not professional software.Screenshots attached:
Welcome screen: can’t see all projects unless window…2 votes -
Support compressing images with WebP when exporting via Adobe PDF Presets
When exporting a PDF, there are several options to compress images: JPEG, JPEG 2000, ZIP. And we can choose the image quality, from Min to Max. To a degree, PDF file sizes can be reduced with these settings, but at a certain point the image quality is too poor for anything meaningful. WebP has incredibly high quality for a low file size, plus it supports an alpha channel.
This feature would automatically benefit Photoshop and InDesign as well, as they share these presets.
