Illustrator icon
I don't know if it annoys anyone else but it drives me crazy the Photoshop icon has rounded corners and the Illustrator icon has sharp corners. Why aren't all the Adobe icons either rounded or sharp, just be consistent!

Variables issues with images paths
Hi all,
am currently using "Data merge using the Variables panel". The following article does not have enough information for me: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/data-driven-graphics-templates-variables.html
The issue lies with the photos
My photos are not stored locally but in our company's shared google drive folder
So instead of having a link: C:\Photos\BillTucker.jpg this is how an image link would look like: /Volumes/GoogleDrive/My Drive/Automation/scljwhj2uqvn8ajetqhn.png
From the article, I've understood that it can not contain blank spaces. I wanted to know if there was a way around and if other users have had this issue. Thanks in advance

not grayscale color as default, or set other color setting as a default
I know that you can change the color mode in color window. But it's really pain in the *ss to do it every time I create a new document.
and the idea setting grayscale as a default for every document with every color mode is ridicolous . (why Illustrator not changing it since it's way too inconvinient)
Idk the history of Illustrator etc. and I won't be bothered by it, I just want to have an option to change the default color setting. that's it.2 votes -

"Align to" [artboard or selection] button in the alignment dialogue
I think it's a very simple thing to do for you guys: I'd really like to see the "align to" button (artboard or selection) added to the align-window.
Actually surprised to see it's not..2 votes -

Sorry, you have to elaborate, because this could mean a lot of things.

Allow to add points in curve when Simplify panel is open
With the Object > Path > Simplify feature, it seems like the ability to quickly add a point to the outline by clicking on the artwork, while the panel is open for refinement. The feature in there 'show original outline' combined with this new recommendation would be a very intuitive way to refine a shape.

Photoshop + Illustrator Plan
I am Photoshop user and I would like to learn Illustrator. But it's a bit pricy, especially when you don't use it as professional. Could you create another plan like Photography Plan but with Illustrator insted of Lightroom?
Or maybe would it be possible to pay for example 1€ and get 10h per month to use one of any program ? I think it will be great chance for people to learn any of Adobe software who don't need it as professional.2 votes -
Rounding errors when changing the unit
When working pixel-perfect, e.g. for creating icons, I switch the unit to pixels and the standard move distance to 1 px. After changing it to mm for different projects and then going back to pixels, it always goes to 1.0001 px distance - which means 2 px. Please fix this rounding error.

Shape-mode
Just as there is an outline-view, there should be a shape-view. I am incredibly tired of having to guess which parts of a path are part of a shape.
There should be a mode where the focus is the shapes that have been defined (e.g. through pathfinder or manually), and the status of any line in relation to a shape.
The overview should differentiate the status of every component by colour (e.g. part of a shape, part of multiple shapes, part of compound path etc) and then allow you to click on any element and see a list of which composites (regardless of if it's a group, compound path, shape or whatever) that it's part of.
This would make things a lot easier when trying to create shapes, remove unnecessary components, or see what isn't there to create a whole shape that you can fill etc.

Implement adaptively-sampled distance field (ADF) technology for 2D drawing
Please incorporate adaptively-sampled distance field (ADF) technology into illustrator's drawing tools. Adobe already licenses this technology for use in fonts, and Mischief the only 2D drawing software that incorporated the technology has been discontinued.

Better Customer Care
How about better customer follow up?
I've had4 on-line tech support "episodes" over MANY, MANY hours, only to have the tech tell me nothing is wrong with Illustrator. I've asked to escalate the case with a follow up call from Senior Support TWICE (See attachments). We agreed on a call back time/day/number and I have not had any follow up from Adobe.
Please get your act together! From what I've been reading on line, people's patience is running thin.
Adobe! Are you listening?

The Graphic Styles Panel needs to have Global and Local panels to allow persistent styles across Illustrator
We create a lot of vector elements and having to change the fill and stroke every time is painful. No fill/No stroke as the default would be MUCH better. Why it's a white fill and black stroke is beyond me.

New text alignment icons in the paragraph panel
I would suggest to add new text alignment icons in the Paragraph panel.
It would be useful to have the possibility to align text to the top, the center and the bottom of a text box.
See image to view icons example.

Allowance to change the keyboard shortcuts for Previous Artboard and Next Artboard
I have all of my keyboard shortcuts set to the left side of the keyboard, since I draw right-handed and keep my left hand on that side of the keys. In my animation workflow, I like to scrub back and forth quickly between artboards, but I do not like the current LOCKED shortcuts for going back and forth through them:
Previous Artboard (Currently locked to Shift-PgUp)
Next Artboard (Currently locked to Shift-PgDn)
First Artboard (Currently locked to Ctrl-Shift-PgUp)
Last Artboard (Currently locked to Ctrl-Shift-PgDn)There is currently no listing for them in the keyboard shortcuts menu, so they cannot be changed.
If I could change them to something like SHIFT-A and SHIFT-Z this would make my workflow so much faster, and it just seems like there should already be changeable shortcuts for these functions under Preferences/KB Shortcuts anyway.

Different ends on lines. Like After Effects, so one is square and the other rounded
In After Effects there is an option to define the strokes ends, rounded or square.

Change forms of Pan-CJK font in language dropdown menu
Super OTC Pan-CJK font like "Source Han Sans" has multiple forms of character in same unicode. In Indesign, we can change them by choosing language in dropdown menu, but in Illustrator, it works only for hyphenation and we can't choose CJK languages.
Please add function to change forms without installing Subset OTF.
