We want you to make file size light even if we save by "Create PDF compatible file".
Selecting “Create PDF compatible file” saves the file size. We want you to be able to choose a resolution such as "350dpi" or "72dpi", and you can see the preview and reduce the file size.

Support for "9-slice scaling" in SVG
SVG export breaks "9-slice scaling". This is understandable, since SVG has no such concept built-in.
But SVG can do something like this. Or "4-slice scaling". See, for example:
https://w3.eleqtriq.com/2014/03/the-holy-grail-of-image-scaling/
I would like to see Illustrator's SVG export offer this feature, given that Illustrator does.
At the very least, if implementation wont happen, or is delayed, please mention that 9-slice scaling is not working in SVG export in the docs and (for bonus points) as a warning in the export dialog box (in cases where the document uses this feature).

Imported SVG path elements - always black fill
I am using the latest version of AI (early 2019).
I notice that SVG path elements often lose their fill color. (They are always black.)
Have not been able to pin down the exact circumstances where this fails, but I am attaching a bare bones file which exhibits the issue clearly.
This file displays perfectly in (e.g.) chrome. There's a red and a green filled path.
But when importing the SVG to AI, the 'red' path loses its fill and becomes black. The green fill is honored on input. I can't see any meaningful difference between the way the fill…

Convert embedded images between different formats/compression schemes...
Currently, if I embed an image as a TIF, the resulting AI file will be larger than if I embed the same image as a JPEG. It would be nice if I could convert embedded images between file formats and have control over compression methods / levels so that I could convert the embedded TIF to something lighter in size such as a JPEG - all from within illustrator.

Add "Crop Image Data to Frames" option to PDF Export (after first adding PDF Export).
InDesign can crop image data to frames, which can significantly shrink PDF files. Why is this long existing InDesign feature missing from Illustrator? Please add it. There is no excuse.

Export to resolutions below 72 PPI
Currently export to raster formats seem to have a 72 PPI minimum. For making thumbnail versions of art, it would be great to be able to export to lower resolutions. It is a drag to have to use Photoshop to do a job that it seems like Illustrator could easily do by itself.
4 votesIndeed, currently Illustrator allows to export only some formats with lower resolution (4 PPI minimum), using Export As dialog — PNGs, JPEGs, WebPs...
Meanwhile, TIFF, TGA, PSD is capped to 72. These are not available in Export Assets / for Screens dialog.
Save for Web (Legacy) does not have a way to assign a resolution at all (since the value has no meaning for screens, as is left blank — it gets treated as 72 PPI by most viewers).

Show image output dimensions before exporting with Export As
Under File > Export > Export for Screens and > Export As, it would be great to be able to know what the output dimensions will be when selecting 150dpi, 300dpi or a custom resolution.
Often I will need to export images from various source to specific JPEG or PNG dimensions. This will save the step of exporting, checking the dimensions of the output file, then adjusting the output resolution or resizing in Photoshop.

Allow Security Settings to be saved as Adobe PDF Preset
Allow Adobe PDF presets to support passwords and security settings. If you select passwords and security settings in the Export Adobe PDF dialog box, and then click Save Preset, the passwords and security settings will be preserved.

Overset Text Warning on Export (like InDesign)
InDesign warns you that the document contains overset text when you export a PDF.
If Illustrator has this option, where does it live?

Bring back the ability to make Picture Clipping Files!
In illustrator you used to be able to drag any art in illustrator to your desktop and it would create a .pictclipping file.
The file would then be a ready to use symbol or pice of art preserve spot colors, Layers, Grouping, Overprint, Any Attributes! It's simple and easy to use and so easy to share with my coworkers! More importantly, because of how simply it operates, better than the current library/symbols functions. I don't understand why they would phase it out.
It's just not as easy to share standardized art through adobe's available functions. We get some new graphic…

Add Option to Save Both Editable and Outlined Text PDFs Simultaneously
As a graphic designer, I often need to provide clients with both editable and outlined text versions of my work. Currently, this requires manually saving two separate files: one with editable text and another with text converted to outlines.
I propose adding a feature in Adobe Illustrator's "Save As PDF" dialog that allows users to check an option like:
"Would you like to save two versions of this file? (Editable text and Outlined text)"
Upon selection, Illustrator would automatically generate:
filename_editable.pdf
filename_outlined.pdf
This enhancement would streamline the workflow, reduce the risk of errors, and save valuable time for designers.

Please allow currentColor for SVG export
Using SVG in web development frequently requires manual editing of the svg code, to use currentColor instead of a fixed fill or stroke colour.

Add export functionality directly in the Artboard Panel
Add export functionality directly in the Artboard Panel through either:
A right-click context menu option
Small export icons next to each artboard
A dedicated export button within the panel"The key benefits to highlight would be:
Reduced clicks/steps in the workflow
More intuitive location since users are already working with artboards3 votes -
Automatically describe sizes in units in file names when exporting
I dream of having many working areas of different sizes, and exporting them to JPG or whatever as separate working areas, that the file name would automatically include the file size depending on the size set in the working file, for example in cm, mm, px... i.e. when I export many areas, in addition to the numbering, they have the current size given in the file name

Embed as attachment a DXF version of the illustration in the Export as PDF option
Most often when designing files for logo or marquing tools we need to export a viewable PDF version and e CAD file as DXF.
In order to keep them synced, it's convenient to attach the DXF as an attachment in the PDF.Could it be possible to impement this workflow in Illustrator? either in the "Export PDF" option or via a script/action command?
Many Thanks

Tool to identify the size of each asset that is added to a document
sometimes I save a project file and it is HUGE... because some asset I added is also HUGE, but I didn't realize it...
I would like to see a feature where I could open a panel (maybe integrated into a LINKS panel?) and it shows each asset added and the size...that way I can make the decision to manually edit that asset to a smaller size so that my files aren't so huge

Placing "Show Import Options" - Import Photoshop Artboards Individually into Illustrator
Give placing options (similar to the PDF import options) when placing a Photoshop file (.PSD and .PSB) into Illustrator; if the "Show Import Options" box is checked, give the user the options to import Photoshop Artboards Individually (Similar to .Ai and PDF Artboards) or as the whole image file.
The "Show Import Options" box must be checked to get these options, however if not checked, the whole image file will be imported into Illustrator regardless of artboards present.
