Illustrator relationship has never been the same for many of us after being forced into subscription service. This toolbar is really frustrating and may be the final deal breaker to switch to Affinity. Hopefully they'll be an update immediately.

I thought it was just me doing something wrong. I have contacted Adobe because I thought it was an Adobe Windows 10 issue. Finally somebody told me to reset it which worked but, as everyone says, you have to reset multiple times a day.

honestly, how is this even a good idea? I mean, has anyone ever even complained about the way the tools are arranged in the palette? you just get accustomed to it and thats it. not EVERYTHING needs to be "customizeable."

I am suffering here. How can I be expected work like this? I pay for this!

I agree. It's a pain to have to keep resetting. My tools get moved all over the place. I just want to keep my tools in one place as I am working. I instinctively go to the place the tool was when last used and suddenly it is nowhere to be found. PLEASE, Adobe, allow us to lock our tool panels.

Yes!! Make it lockable. I thought i was missing something and couldn't find the lock button, but turns out thay don't have one? How is this even possible?

Totally agree!! Sucks! Terrible system - hate it... Adobe just overthinks for the sake of overthinking... terrible idea. I move tools into other places by mistake all the time...and it just kills my workflow!

Tell me about it... I'm about ready to uninstall and go back to the previous version.

Just adding that this is also affecting my team. Everyday they ask me if there is any word on a fix for this and I have no information to give them other than to just do their best and to keep playing hide-n-seek with the tools they need. This is completely unacceptable.

OK I'm not the only one then. I don't have the time to play hide-and-seek with tools. That's not what I pay the Adobe subscription for. How do they release an application with this kind of behavior?

Can someone make this post sticky?
Many people are complaining it takes forever to rearrange the tools back to normal but Adobe has made a way to "reset" them back to normal, doesn't take much time at all. It's not ideal, the bug still needs to be fixed, tools should never move without you wanting them to. The reset button is the only things that keep me going on Ai 2019 because I find the rest of the update to be great.
PRO-TIP:
If you keep the standard layout (Basic or Advanced) just push the reset button. Click three dots at the bottom of the toolbar, then click the three lines w/ three dots at the top right of the window that just popped up, then click "Reset."If you have a custom tool layout, SAVE IT! Yes, you can save the layout. YouTube is your friend if you don't know how to already. Then repeat the steps above when the tools relocated by them selfs.

I've found a "workaround" for the toolbar issue that's been working for me. It's definitely not a fix.
I drag the tools out of the tool bar for each set of tools I need and just stack them....and don't touch the original unless it's for fill or outline color change. This is especially effective for the selection arrows.Screen Shot 2019-01-02 at 2.36.08 PM

I switched back to CC 2018. Night and day difference.
It blows my mind this wasn't caught in user testing (If there was any). Seems to me like the UI/UX design team handed specs off to the engineering team and this feature just got implemented without proper testing.

holy ****, i thought it was just me.... i've been searching to see if the tools changed or what, but yes driving me nuts as well . I think i'll go back to 18 for the time being and see what happens.

I agree with all the comments here- I have tried to adapt to the quirky toolbox but I am about done. This version of Illustrator is pretty much useless. Reverting back to 2018 seems to be the only solution.
Note to self wait 6-12 months before updating any future Adobe products. Good grief.

PLEASE make this feature lockable. I believe you fixed an issue that was not broken. I believe that most people who want to customize their toolbar will do so by using shortcuts! They move randomly - and constantly need to be re-set!

Put it back the way it was, It's not a function we want or need.
You've done it just because you can, well you thought you could but it's not working, is it?
