Allow legacy behavior for "Rearrange Artboards"
While I'm sure some people welcome Illustrator's new features for rearranging the artboards, I have found it to be finicky and weird. There should be an option that defaults to the center of the work area, like it used to do automatically. This new behavior, of having to select where the artboards go just complicates a once simple process.

Starting with Beta 29.7.1 the Rearrange dialog got a separate dedicated feature, currently called 'Align Manually'.
With it disabled, artboards get positioned instantly in the center of the canvas, as it behaved previously.
When this is enabled, you will enter the positioning mode after pressing OK — to allow rearranging only some artboards, to address this request.
With more than 1 artboard selected (but not all), the mode gets enabled automatically (and becomes locked).

Please make the 'click to place' optional - this has really messed with my workflow, especially with storyboarding where certain common assets remain fixed and it's useful to be able to reorder artboards without moving those locked items.
I can see the benefit for manually placing selected artboards but it should be optional - with the current version it's almost impossible to get things exactly on-pixel as well. Thanks. -

Unlike Version 29.5.1, with this version you cannot rearrange the artboards automatically and have them snap to the grid. Now, you get a cursor and a rectangle, and you can set the cursor wherever you like. However, it is impossible to set the artboards to snap to the grid or to the pixel again. This renders a function that I often used to rearrange the artboards on which I keep my icons unusable. I had to keep installing older versions until I found one that didn't have that problem; 29.5.1 is still OK. Please fix this in future versions. Alternatively, make the cursor snap to the grid if that option is selected. This would make it useful again.

Why do you change stuff that works? Now I need to re-arrange my artboards and cannot.

This new version that allows sub pixel alignment of rearranged artboards is ridiculous and unusable. Why on earth would you change / remove the previous feature? This new feature causes havoc with exported files for web and email.

This is not an upgrade. Please return allow an option to allow for pixel perfect arrangement.

Can we just have the tickbox option to place manually if someone prefer that way? This "new feature" hinders my workflow and slows me down.

This new "feature" needs to be optional for those who requested it. Currently, the default behavior is causing inconsistent total program freezing and failure (force quit is the only way to close the program), and I am unable to determine specifically what is causing it. I have tried multiple steps to ensure it always happens, but it is proving to be troublesome. At any rate, here is a screen recording of what IS happening with version. 29.6.1: https://nic.box.com/s/xkhspdorjw4a8umhepx5p63o64bm4o67

I hate this feature change. I hate it because my current project's client likes the outcome so much. "Conscientious and professional," they said about how every artboard is perfectly centered on each canvas. Of course, my client doesn't need to know how simple the effort is. Or was.
Thankfully, I can downgrade to v 29.5.1 easily enough. (And thanks for nothing Adobe for erasing or needlessly hiding my workspace.) Illustrator will now remain locked from updating until the rearrange feature returns to its former simple, elegant, and quick ability to arrange artboards automatically in the center of the canvas.
Return the rearrange feature to its former self Adobe. Or offer the option to switch. My continued subscription pays for things new and improved, not perfectly good features removed.

Please revert to the previous version or at least make this feature optional.
It's wasting my time and eating up resources. Absolutely no added value?!? -

改悪すぎ。最初は何かのバグかと思った。今すぐにでも直してほしい!
This is such a terrible change. At first, I thought it was some kind of bug. I really want it fixed right away! -

The auto-center feature really helped me to meticulously layout my artboards. I understand the update but completely removing the feature really messed with my workflow. My suggestion would be to add options to the Rearrange Artboards dialog box where you can either 1) manually enter X/Y coordinates, 2) automatically center to the pasteboard, or 3) manually place with the cursor.

Changing the rearrange artboard behaviour as well as burying the rearrange artboard dialog menu as well as the artboard dimensions themselves were all terrible changes. Workflow breaking. I spent an hour trying to figure out what I was missing and researching if there was ways to get the old behaviour. Waste of my time.

This is the dumbest update in a while, and that's saying a lot. If I need to place pages between existing back to back pages, there's no room to place them manually between them. Even if this rearrange tool is used simply to move a page to the very beginning or end, it's no longer pixel perfect, so it's janky in that way as well.

The past functionality was so much better - artboard placement automatically pixel precise!

The main issue I had was that the boards were not re-arranging due to there not being enough space when clicked. Zooming right out to see the are needed worked but this needs to made clearer as to why it isn’t working.

The new version is much slower for workflow, poorer for consistency, and is now also causing my Illustrator some freezing when trying to place them! Please revert back or have an option to turn this feature off

I'm going to take fragments of comments of other users who communicated the problem with this feature much more clearly than I could have ever said it: The artboards don't snap to pixel, leaving artboards with decimal values in X and Y. The easiest way to align artboards to the pixelgrid (to avoid additional pixels on image export) was to use rearrange artboards, it automatically aligned them. I don't mind the extra steps because of the added function to only rearange selected artboards, a function that COULD be useful, but not at this point, precisely beacuse of the fractional pixel values problem. I see why this option is here and it could potentially be very useful, but it either needs MUCH more granular control (snap to pixel, etc.), OR an option to use the original behavior.
