Same GPU related issues (Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB) with similar issues...

At random, after outlining (some) fonts, and then adding a stroke, I will get all these weird issues where a jagged stroke occurs. Or where a line makes an angle, these errors appear. They are not showing up in the preview, and if back-save the file and open it with Illustrator 2019, the errors no not appear.

Also to note, that Illustrator 2019 V 23.1.1 Has GPU Performance turned on and does not have this issue.

Yes turning off GPU Performance removes these issues, but Illustrator is almost non-functional with this turned off.

Thank you Egor. That Solved the issue. During the new 2022 Illustrator install, I guess it didn't import all my preferences as that was not set properly. Or maybe it's not part of the preference. Either Way Solved.

There is no true PDF Export in Illustrator, because Illustrator allows to have editable PDFs with .ai-content stored within. Other apps does not allow that, and some users heavily rely on editable PDFs.

Attemps to solve this were made, but there is no clear solution so far. Still we hope to find one.

The intended way to get a PDF (without loosing your data) at the moment would be to use Save a Copy command that saves a separate copy of your file to PDF instead of Save As which keeps a saved file open.

This is a huge issue that I can't believe only has at this time 77 votes!

I've been dealing with this for years now ever since they removed the print postscript method and I've finally had enough to make a comment for Adobe to address this program flaw. I don't know a single Illustrator user who has had the issue where they have 'saved as' a pdf (the current only way to make a pdf) file only to keep working on the pdf file that says open, only later to realise they were working on the pdf and not the original .ai file. The export option would save tons of time, simplify and end this frustrating issue that everyone has had at some point.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.1.0 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

If I "Save" a document with Background Saving turned on, and hit "Save As" before the process has been completed, it will stop the current "Save process and not save the file.

The problem that really needs to be fixed is there is No Warning (Message Box) that the Background Saving has been aborted and that document has not been saved.

This issue can be replicated on Illustrator 2020 & 2021 or 24.3 & 25.0 or whatever we are calling them now.
