An error occurred while saving the comment Steven, I do not recall Streamline enough to recall the difference between this slider you describe with the existing Threshold slider the Image Trace panel has. How these two are not similar? Please elaborate.

An error occurred while saving the comment Greg, there are two plugin tools you can use to do exactly this.
1. Astute Graphics’ InkFlow plugin — which does not yet provide the control over individual points
2. LTTR/INK plugin — which is not in its Beta phase

An error occurred while saving the comment Matt, not sure if I get a confusion.
The Brush tool works with brush strokes. Brushes are considered to be complex appearance. This option does not influence the Brush tool exactly because it’s specialized one, and won’t be able to operate without creating a complex appearance — otherwise we get a Brush tool which doesn’t produce brush strokes. What is the point of it then?
Please give some examples of what exactly do you want to achieve with a brushless brush... I am trying to understand the reasoming. -

I see no reason to have it disabled, since Ai know I am in the Layer 1 (and there is even no other layers at all!)
...and as a feature request (but this would require more thinking, to avoid breaking behaviors) — if I have a highlighted group already — why not to put it in the created sublayer, when this button is clicked?AdminEgor Chistyakov

What is the GPU you are using and the version of Illustrator?
Can you share the test file it’s happening with?
