An error occurred while saving the comment Mark, there is an easy way to convert a live shape into 'dead' one, but with a separate 'Expand' command. I just have too much Expand commands :)

An error occurred while saving the comment Ah, OK. Hmm... Try to reproduce it with Space instead of H, can’t make it happen.
Do you have anything keyboard-related installed? Maybe some helper apps? Does it happen using any keyboard layout (don’t no much how Chinese input works, sorry). Have no other guesses so far :/An error occurred while saving the comment Why do you HOLD the H key?
Unlike Photoshop, Illustrator does not support 'spring-loaded keys', so pressing H once permanently switches the tool, and the previously used tool does not automatically revert. Here is a feature request about having this implemented in Ai: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/43625679-spring-loaded-toolsInstead of holding H, you should hold Space — it works like you expect it to do with holding H.
As for the blinking... I try to replicate this on Windows 10 machine (not sure if you are using 10 or 11), and it does not happen to me.
My guess is that Windows Keyboard Character Repeat Options are somehow involved... When you hold a key for a certain time (delay), Windows start sending the held letter with a specified repeat rate... Perhaps somehow it triggers Ai to do that. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Indeed. For some reason Ai requires us to use Group Selection when isolated, even though the scope is changed, and now Selection should treat object in group as top level objects. Clearly a miss :(

An error occurred while saving the comment Hm.
Ai allows this today. Not using all the ways you offered, but some.
1. You can change the number of sides in the Transform / Control / Properties panel — if your selected object is a live shape. If it’s not, but can be one, we can convert a fitting path into a live shape with Object > Shape > Convert to Shape
2. We can click the canvas with the picked Star / Polygon tool to get the creation dialog (and it works for other shapes) to set up values. Double-clicking the tool icon can be a method too, but then it’d require a variant of each dialog for each shape to also provide coordinates... Not sure it worth it, if we can just feed coordinates with a click (also try Alt-clicking for Rectangles and Ellipses to get them drawn from the center).I think you are aware of these method though...
The idea with pressing a number while dragging is fun, I like it! Upvoting just because of this one. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks for sharing. Every bit helps to tip the scales. 'Figma now does it' is good too.

An error occurred while saving the comment Link to the script is updated:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/i2pzxx0jlfuzr70/Trim%20Left%20Side%20Bearing.jsx?dl=1An error occurred while saving the comment I've wrote a script, that will kern each first symbol in each line of each text object to compensate left side-bearing, based on gap between anchor/left edge of text and physical (outlined) left edge of chosen 2 glyphs (uppercase and lowercase):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dvfj21mopd6cmbr/Trim%20Left%20Side%20Bearing.jsx?dl=0This is still workaround, but may be it would help you, random user.
Here is short animated demo:

Это не реальный полуапрош, конечно (не уверен, что к нему есть доступ силами из JS), но задача выполняется.
Бубен вам в помощь.An error occurred while saving the comment
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/33610747-add-an-option-for-trimming-side-bearings
An error occurred while saving the comment
An error occurred while saving the comment

An error occurred while saving the comment Yury, hi!
Thanks for the report (and FontLab). I checked UserVoice for older reports about this and found nothing. Perhaps the report had been made at forums or through PR program?
Anyway, it behaves OK for me, but on Windows. I will try to ask someone to test it using the same configuration as you have.
Do you use the same email to file the crash report as you use here at UV? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Russel, Sonoma causes sooo many issues for Illustrator users, that it can hardly be called 'upgraded' :(
Anyway — I suppose you chose report when you are given the choice? Did you use the same email the one you use here at UV, so that engineers can find your report in the database?
Can you please share a test file that 100% gives you this error, and ideally record a short video of you trying to use it? -

An error occurred while saving the comment 'Newest version' — do you refer to Genera Availability build, or the Beta build?
I test it on Windows with the GA build and it works for me.Can you please share the full specs of your computer?
Does you artwork involve opacity masks?
Does it happen the same for RGB and CMYK documents?
Can you reproduce this with a simple fresh document? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Patty, I honestly don’t know anymore.
The app is held afloat, and only extremely crucial bugs get fixed.
From what I see here at UV, I personally doubt the app is going to be improved further, but I have no evidence to that, and I don’t really like speculations.
We hope to get more details on that.I do know though that Ai on Web goes on well, so perhaps this is what the future will be (if it ever leaves Chromium).
Anyway, please stay alert, and thanks for the question — we all want to know the answer. -

An error occurred while saving the comment This is bad!
Please tell more about the configurations you are having?
1. What type of disk do you have the application installed on? SSD or HDD?
2. How much of free space do you have on your disks?
3. Does your Windows user account have administrator rights?
4. Do you try to save your artwork as a local or as cloud document? An error occurred while saving the comment Laura, do other save options work for you? Save As, Save a Copy, saving in other formats than .ai?

An error occurred while saving the comment A common approach to this is to hover over a warning symbol to get a hover tooltip with a description of the problem. This is widely used in other apps as well.
I agree though this could been immediate, especially in this case, since it leads to a lot of problems if unintentionally missed...
I wonder though, Jan — did you actually NOT know about the way to trigger a tooltip, or do you just think this is not enough to inform users? -

Illustrator today has a way to apply symmetry to a chosen art, with using Object > Repeat > Mirror command. It can be applied to a singular object or to a group.
An error occurred while saving the comment While standard Mirror Repeat is an intended way of using symmetry in Illustrator, there are other third-party solution to this, including free MirrorMe plugin form Astute Graphics: https://astutegraphics.com/plugins/mirrorme

This is reported to be fixed with the latest 28.5 build. Please check if it works for you.

Which exact version of Windows 11 do you have? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Jason, a quick test on Mac confirms it.
It’s been tried with the Excel's default font Aptos Narrow. However, when other fonts are used, like 'Bodoni 72', — it works fine.
Perhaps the font availability in both apps can be the issue.
Could you please try the same routine, but with a font font which is available in both the apps? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Chris, doesn’t happen for me with Beta 28.5.0.26 for Myriad Pro, but on Windows.
Seems familiar to me, but so far I was not able to locate an existing report about this.
Does it happen for you for Myriad Pro only, or other fonts behave the same?
If you have a G (General Availability) release installed as well — can you check if it has the same problem?
There is a way to toggle this, by assigning 0 to the /createLiveShapes flag in the Adobe Illustrator Prefs
This is hardly discoverable, and it should be a part of normal UI (along with Y-axis flipping: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/32428157-allow-users-to-set-direction-for-x-and-y-axes)
