I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.1.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

An error occurred while saving the comment Wait... when you unembed an embedded image, you should not provide an existing original image for this! It will get overwritten with the raster image you have selected in Ai! This is what this command is designed for.
If you want to replace an embedded image with a layered PSD (or any other original source), you should use a different command altogether!
You can use File > Place for that (with the Replace option checked in the Place dialog), or Relink command in the Links panel’s menu.
Why doesn't Ai provide Relink command in the Control menu (or in the context one) — is another question, and I think we can treat this report a s a request to add it there.

As I see it, it’s easy enough — you select an embedded image, hit the Unembed button (in Control or Properties) and choose a name and a location for the file. Why do you think it’s a difficult way? -

Both 'Fit to Artwork Bounds' and 'Fit to Selected Art' commands can be inserted in an action using the 'Insert menu item...' command from the Actions panel’s flyout menu.
This approach can be used to insert other commands which Illustrator skips while recording. You can read more about it here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/automation-actions.html

An error occurred while saving the comment DR, in case you are still interested, to insert this 'Fit to Selected Art' command into an action, you have to use 'Insert Menu Item...' command form the Action panel’s menu. This is not exactly obvious, I know, but it can be done.

If you refer to settings — some settings can be saved locally, some can be backed up via Edit > My Settings menu.
If you mean document — well, Ai allows to save files as cloud documents.
Please provide more details. -

An error occurred while saving the comment There is a script that has been developing by Sergey Osokin for quite some time, which allows to trim an clipped embedded raster image to it's clipping mask’s bounds, but it’s not finished, unfortunately, so it’s not published at his repository yet: https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts
Another option would be to use Rasterino by Astute Graphics: https://astutegraphics.com/plugins/rasterino
It won’t fully automate it for you, but it has a much better tool for cropping and trimming images you might prefer to the stock one.And sure I’d love to have this feature myself!
An error occurred while saving the comment Jody, there's a way to make it work, but with a different method.
Create a rectangle, fill it with white, set it to Multiply blending mode, select both image and rectangle and apply Flatten Transparency with the settings from the GIF attached.
But yes, what you want makes sense. -

An error occurred while saving the comment The problem is that all shapes filled with freeform gradients are containers with dynamically generated triangular meshes inside. Since triangular meshes are not curved at their edges, but segmented, these meshes needed to be hidden, so Ai hides them in secretly generated clipping masks, invisible for users...
And since the bounding box of a symbol for some stupid reason is measured by its clipped content’s bounds, and not the mask, we get this behaviour. A stupid situation :(

If you happen to experience one — please isolate the problematic piece of the artwork in a separate file, test if it happens still, record the behavior, and post these here in comments, or email to sharewithai@adobe.com.
Only then the team can try to reproduce these and fix.
What GPU do you have? What is the exact number of your Windows OS?
Can you send this file via sharewithai@adobe.com, for the team to look at it?
