182 votesThis issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image. That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.
At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

After testing, the method to remove white edges is as follows:
1. By setting it as pixel level optimization
2.Select "1x, 2x, 3x..." in "Format Scaling" to remove white borders. If the resolution selected for "Format Scaling" is not a multiple of 72, such as 100pi, 150ppi, 300ppi, white borders will appear after export. If set to pixel level optimization, the size will change when exported in units such as millimeters, centimeters, meters, etc.
I hope this issue can be corrected. An error occurred while saving the comment onenower commented
The 'png, jpg, webp' files exported using the 'export to multiple screen formats' method show a 1-pixel offset.

81 votesAccording to Abhishek Rao here, disabling 'Export in Background' in Preferences > File Handling helps to workaround the problem (until the actual fix). Make sure you enable 'Art Optimized (Supersampling)' as an anti-aliasing option in Export for Screens settings as well.

Please provide comparison screenshots for the designs you can see a clear difference between these two export methods.
There is a related bug report, and perhaps the quality discussed here is actually a bug: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/38987995
Even if it’s somethings else, it’s not OK the request about image quality does not have a single image as an example. Please share!

In version 29.2, exporting PNG files from large canvases will shrink by 10 times, while regular canvases are fine.

I just tested version 29.01 again, and there were no issues with it. No matter which method is used to export, whether it is a large canvas or a regular canvas, it works normally. The issue occurred in version 29.2.

Understood, thank you.
Yes, the complete 'jpg options' should be added to' export to multiple screen formats'

I hope that the "Select objects only by path" option in the "Preferences" can be set with a toggle key, so that you can quickly switch between the two selection methods. These two options each have their own advantages and disadvantages, so that you can choose when needed. You can set shortcut keys or hold down a key to use.
