I feel like bigger anchors would get in the way, but why not have a circle pop up around the anchor point when hovering over it that creates a 'safe zone' for clicking inside. As soon as the circle or outline pops up for the anchor point, clicking anywhere inside it will grab the anchor point. I swear this feature already exists in other applications.
Additionally, it may also help to have a tiny popup when direct selecting anchor points that shows what number of anchor points were selected in that zone. Not only would it help us to know whether we need to zoom in further to select the correct one (or delete extras), but it would also clue us in to any directly overlapping anchors that we weren't aware of.

I am excited to announce that 'Scale artwork with Artboard' feature is now available in Illustrator Beta. To access it, open the Creative Cloud app and go to "Beta apps" and install "Illustrator (Beta)" . New Preference in Properties panel is added to control scaling of artboard content while scaling artboard.
Scaling of strokes , effects and patterns during artboard scaling can also be controlled from transform panel .
We look forward to your feedback on this new feature in Illustrator.
Regards,
Illustrator Team .

Hi Everyone, This feature was shipped in Illustrator 2020 version. Please go to Preferences>Selection & Anchor Display > and check ‘Select and unlock objects on canvas’. Enabling this preference will display a lock icon when you select the locked object.

I believe that's an extrusion. A bevel cuts into the edges of an object evenly (usually) around the perimeter of its face.
