Hi Everyone,
All the effect checkboxes have now been set to ON by default, and are sticky (meaning that if you disable preview, on next launch of Illustrator preview will remain disabled). This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.
What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback.

As soon as the circle or outline pops up for the anchor point, clicking anywhere inside it will grab the anchor point. I swear this feature already exists in other applications.
Additionally, it may also help to have a tiny popup when direct selecting anchor points that shows what number of anchor points were selected in that zone. Not only would it help us to know whether we need to zoom in further to select the correct one (or delete extras), but it would also clue us in to any directly overlapping anchors that we weren't aware of.

The latest Beta 28.8.0.37 now has this function back.
You can enable the mode using a button in Control Panel or in Properties, with the Artboard tool picked.
The option automatically enables Scale Strokes & Effects option temporarily.
As always, you can hold Shift to resize proportionally.
Please test it and comment back!

Hi Everyone, This feature was shipped in Illustrator 2020 version. Please go to Preferences>Selection & Anchor Display > and check ‘Select and unlock objects on canvas’. Enabling this preference will display a lock icon when you select the locked object.

Thanks,

I believe that's an extrusion. A bevel cuts into the edges of an object evenly (usually) around the perimeter of its face.
