So it’s obviously not fixed, and we all know it.
While the cursor gets changes into the horizontal/vertical two-headed arrow, the center handles for the bounding box indeed don’t appear, if the width/height of the art (here just an orthogonal line) is small enough.
Please continue to share you thought, screenshots, GIFs. It’s time to re-review this again.
An error occurred while saving the comment Cheryl commentedNot sure what to add except, yes, it's still not fixed.
Narrow rectangles are missing the center handles at the narrow ends (need to zoom in substantially before they appear), and lines are still missing bounding boxes....

An error occurred while saving the comment Cheryl commentedI can't believe after paying what adds up to almost $900/year in my local currency, I can't even do something like extend the length of a line in my artwork. For the past 1 year. It beggars belief that something like this can't be "fixed" (especially since it's not a NEW feature, just a basic old one that was incomprehensibly removed). Come on, FIX THIS PLEASE.

An error occurred while saving the comment Cheryl commentedYES this deserves more upvotes - it has been an issue for awhile and Adobe is doing nothing about this. It completely disrupts workflow and is a pointless "function" (if it was meant to be a function and not a bug). Either way, please bring back the center handles for small and thin objects!! It's ridiculous to have to zoom in so much just to adjust the length or width of an object without even being able to see the rest of the artwork.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!
An error occurred while saving the comment Cheryl commentedI have this exact same issue as well.
1. Version of AI: 22.1 on macOS 10.11.6
2. The steps you were taking: Working in one window/file with multiple artboards (window A), then switching to another open tab/file also with multiple artboards (window B), when I switch back to window A, the screen is zoomed-to-fit on a different artboard (not the one I was initially working on).
3. Your expected result: Switch to window A with exactly same view as I left it – same zoom & same artboard
4. Your actual result: Window B jumps to the last possible artboard and zooms to fit it to window.
Sure I can do that but it’s actually not file or don’t specific - it has been happening in all files and with all font/text elements.
I’ve had to revert to using the non Beta Illustrator cos it’s impeding my work so much.
