The recently announced change pushed into Beta 28.6.578 refers to this similar request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/35253820
The users can now use save custom presets within the Saved tab in the New Document dialog (modern one, not the legacy one). Please provide the dedicated feedback there.
As for the ability to change the existing predefined sizes for each document profile (Print, Web, etc,), like A1, A5, etc, — this is not yet available. Stay tuned and sorry for the misfire.

Thank you all for reporting this issue and providing us your valuable feedback.
What we have found out so far is that this issue can happen in multiple workflows. For clear tracking, validation and closure. We will closing this thread for given below two scenarios which we believe are fixed now:
1)Double click any Ai file to launch Illustrator
2)Placing files in Illustrator via Bridge. For two other scenarios that we know of that can cause this, we have created a separate thread :https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/39220189-ai-displays-the-start-screen-on-opening-the-file-a .If you are encountering the below mentioned issues with latest Version (24.0.1 on Mac and Win), then please vote on newly provided User voice thread and provide Test File via File→Package, Video and steps via dropping email at sharewithai@adobe.com along with this thread link so that we can identify and fix the root cause.

The team again asks for help with this issue, since there are not specific steps they can try to reproduce it — the nature of the bug is random.
If you are a Windows user, the next time you spot a missing or a duplicated number in Artboards panel, please follow these instructions below.
1. Open Task Manager
2. In Details tab, locate 'Illustrator.exe'
3. Right click it and choose 'Create dump file'
4. Wait until the dumping process is complete and click 'Open file location' button
5. Find 'Illustrator.dmp' (sorting files by date helps) and compress it with any archiving utility
6. Upload the archive to a file hosting service of your choice and sent the link for download to sharewithai@adobe.com. Please use the subject 'Artboards numbering bug dump'
This will help provide necessary clues to locate the source of the problem. If you are a Mac user —…
Stef Naskova supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Stef Naskova commentedWhen I drag to copy an artboard it creates a new artboard. So when i try to export that new artboard it shows error and says it doesn't exist.
It also happens the new artboard to have number that already exists.

Hi everyone,
The issue got resolved with the new Apple adapter.
Thank you for your feedback.
An error occurred while saving the comment Stef Naskova commentedUPDATE
I've learned that the problem occurs ONLY when i use my second monitor. When I move Illustrator back to my original monitor (the MacBook) the mouse doesn't lag. So this means I can't use my bigger monitor when I use Illustrator. That sucks.
An error occurred while saving the comment Stef Naskova commentedHi, I have a problem with the mouse. It's lagging only in Ai (not in Ps, Xd, Sketch), only Illustrator. The mouse goes slow only when the selection tool is selected, and only when the cursor is in the canvas, so when the mouse is in the toolbars top, left and right, it's not lagging.
PLEASE fix this issue, as it's very important since I can't do basic stuff and i'm kinda unable e to use Ai. :(

An error occurred while saving the comment Stef Naskova commentedI forgot to say, it lags only when the mouse is on the canvas, when it's on the toolbars (top, right, left), it doesn't lag.
Again, it's so annoying.
Stef Naskova supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Stef Naskova commentedYes omg I have the same issue it's impossible to work in Ai with this, the mouse is lagging so bad. I've noticed it's only when you have the selection tool selected, but I use that tool 90% of the time!
Please fix!!

I opened an svg file (right click > open with > Ai) and it opened Ai with the sidebars but instead of the canvas with the artboard and my file, there was the starting screen inside.
