AI displays the START SCREEN on opening the file and the document view do not switches (refreshes) the file content.

What we have found out so far is that this issue can happen in multiple workflows. For clear tracking, validation and closure. We will closing this thread for given below two scenarios which we believe are fixed now:
1)Double click any Ai file to launch Illustrator
2)Placing files in Illustrator via Bridge.For two other scenarios that we know of that can cause this, we have created a separate thread :https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/39220189-ai-displays-the-start-screen-on-opening-the-file-a .If you are encountering the below mentioned issues with latest Version (24.0.1 on Mac and Win), then please vote on newly provided User voice thread and provide Test File via File→Package, Video and steps via dropping email at sharewithai@adobe.com along with this thread link so that we can identify and fix the root cause.

Just wanted to chime back in and say this has happened 10 times to me today on the new 23.0.4 release. It's affecting my productivity.

A similar issue happens in 23.0.4. New document windows do not appear. Worse the document window appears to be active on another document. This is the worst release of illustrator I can remember. I'm loosing so much time working, and I'm always under the gun at work. Bad adobe, no cookie.

Illustrator version 22 is not supported on macOS 10.14 (Mojave).
Please upgrade to version 23 to resolve the issue.Chris

A similar issue is occurring with me on 23.0.4(osx 10.14.5 mbp 2018 ). Opening a file creates a grey screen that locks me out of file editing or shows the previously opened file, but I may not interact with it. I may open multiple files and the tabs update to the file names but the first file is the only one that is visible. This happens randomly, but frequently. It's a similar issue to what was happening before, and has been happening since illustrator 23(osx) was launched. Illustrator does not lock I may interact with the menus, however I can't edit or properly see what file is being edited. It makes it difficult to save out files. Opening multiple files can sometimes trigger this issue as well.
