    Honestly, the recent "Set font height reference" feature has been one of the best features for the past several years—I'd say it's better than the text-to-image AI feature. "Align to glyph bounds" was another excellent invention. For some reason, the Illustrator team stopped there. We need this bounding box aligned to glyph bounds feature, too!

    The latest Beta 28.5.0.78 allows manual dimensions to stick to arbitrary points and recalculate correctly when objects are repositioned or transformed — just as we expected it to. This includes gaps also.

    Please try it and see if it works for all the cases you have and comment back.

    Sticky dimensions should work properly regardless of placement method. Otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

    It is possible now to set up a custom scale in Ai Beta 28.4.0.2.

    In Dimension Tool Options dialog open the Scale dropdown and choose custom to get the Custom Scale dialog.

    It works for decimal scales only, like 1:12 or 1:15, but not for Imperial scales like 1/16"

    Please try it and comment back.

    Please account for those who work in the US. We need a set of standard architectural scales as default and an ability to create custom scales such as 7 1/2"=10'-0. We'll need a scale calculator too, but I guess this is a different topic. below are standard arch scales:

    1/16"=1'
    3/32"=1'
    1/8"=1
    3/16"=1'
    1/4"=1'
    3/8"=1'
    1/2"=1'
    3/4"=1'
    1"=1'
    1 1/2"=1'
    3"=1'
    6"=1'
    1"=1"

    It's great but not really enough to feel comfortable with 1:1 scale large graphics. Is there a certain reason it's just 2270 inches, not 3000 or 5000?

    One thing I can't understand is why people keep commenting we don't need this feature. How it may affect your workflow if the drawing field is bigger than it is now? It'll be there and you most likely won't notice it just as you don't notice most of the features Illustrator has. We need this feature and we've been asking for it for years. Tools are invited and modified to make our life easier. We want our work in Illustrator to be easier and I bet you can find enough reasons why we need this feature within 400 comments in this thread.
